On-Call Security Officer: CP Chem Cedar Bayou

JOB SUMMARY: Under limited supervision, the Security Officer provides security and protection of work site(s), personnel, and assets at the assigned job site. Enforces safety and security measures, performs regular vehicular and/or foot patrols of assigned premises, performs access control duties, operates and monitors CCTV equipment, and responds to incidents based on established operational procedures.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license
  • Military, law enforcement, or security experience preferred, but not required
  • Some officers will be required to have or obtain with 90 days of employment Emergency Medical Responder certification
  • State of Texas Level II Unarmed Security Officer license (or ability to obtain)
  • Ability to speak, read, understand and write English
  • As a condition of employment, must be able to successfully complete a criminal background investigation, drug screen, and a post-offer physical evaluation.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of two years of experience in law enforcement, military police, corrections, or private security company within the past five years.
  • Military experience in an applicable specialty may be substituted for law enforcement experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform searches of people, vehicles, buildings, and large outdoor areas
  • Confront suspicious persons, assess intentions, and take action as appropriate
  • Perform rescue functions at accidents, emergencies and disasters
  • Extinguish fires by using a fire extinguisher and other appropriate means
  • Effectively and coherently communicate over radio channels while initiating and responding to radio communications
  • Utilize clear and appropriate communication skills when communicating with people
  • Gather information in investigations by interviewing and obtaining the statements of all participants and witnesses
  • Reduce the results of investigations into written form so as to clearly and accurately reflect the information obtained
  • Read, comprehend, and employ policies and procedures
  • Exercise sound judgment in determining appropriate action when there is a reasonable suspicion to detain, when probable cause exists to search, and when force may be used and to what degree
  • Comprehend, evaluate, and correctly respond to oral information received
  • Maintain composure and control of the situation
  • Safely operate a motor vehicle during both the day and night in a variety of settings and varying weather conditions
  • Conduct visual surveillance for extended periods of time
  • Observe, recall, and distinguish characteristics of persons, suspects, automobiles, location and property
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness in a safe manner
  • Willingness to perform other duties as required
  • Willingness to work at various locations as required

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The majority of work is performed in and around an oil refinery with a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities and abilities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The employee's work requires routine walking, standing, bending and carrying items up to 25lbs. Applicant will be required to successfully complete a post-offer pre-hire physical.
