ClearanceJobs is actively seeking a Principal DevOps Engineer for our client located in Colorado Springs, CO. Responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support frequent, reliable software delivery
Automate infrastructure deployment, scaling, and management using configuration management and scripting tools
Implement and manage containerization technologies (Docker, Podman), including rootless vs. rootful configurations
Partner with development and test teams to improve build, integration, and deployment workflows
Integrate automated testing and security/quality tooling (static analysis, code quality, coverage) into CI/CD pipelines
Monitor pipeline and system performance, driving improvements for reliability and availability
Maintain security, compliance, and configuration baselines across environments, including credential and identity management for secure automation Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline and 5 years of related experience; OR Master's degree in STEM and 3 years; OR PhD in STEM and 1 year
Current, active, in-scope U.S. Government Secret security clearance at time of application (required to start)
Willingness to travel up to 10%
Experience with containerization and container runtime technologies (Docker, Podman, or similar)
Experience with automated testing and CI/CD software pipelines/factories
Experience deploying applications in containerized environments
Experience with CI/CD tooling such as the Atlassian suite, Jira, GitHub, GitLab, SonarQube, Checkmarx, Coverity, or Jenkins
Hands-on experience with Unix/Linux operating systems Preferred Qualifications:
Strong Linux administration and shell scripting experience in production-like environments
Experience implementing automated testing and analysis within CI/CD pipelines
Familiarity with hypervisors and virtualized medium-to-high-trust environments
Experience with credential and identity management solutions (e.g., Keycloak or similar) for secure non-interactive access
Exposure to Kubernetes or infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible)
Experience in a Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) environment
Experience with Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) tools such as Gherkin and Cucumber Clearance Requirements:
Active, in-scope U.S. Government Secret security clearance required at time of application and to start — no interim or eligibility-only clearances accepted Location:
Colorado Springs, CO, with time split at a nearby Space Force installation
On-Site daily — limited remote/hybrid flexibility
