Job description

Welcome to the Traegerhood:
Our business is BBQ, and business tastes good. Traeger invented the wood pellet grill over 30 years ago, and we've been revolutionizing outdoor cooking ever since. We're a team of disruptors, innovators, problem solvers, and food fanatics who are dedicated to bringing people together to create a more flavorful world. From our headquarters in Salt Lake City and beyond, we work tirelessly to provide a world-class experience to our customers, retailers, and especially our employees. If you're a team player who's dedicated to delivering top-quality results every day, then we want you to come cook with us!
This is a hands-on, in-store execution role.
You will spend the majority of your time on the retail floor - visiting dealers, building relationships with store staff, landing sell-in orders, and making Traeger impossible to ignore in your market. If you are hungry to build a career in field sales, love food, and want to represent a brand people are genuinely passionate about, this is your launchpad.
What You'll Do
Traeger is seeking a Field Sales Representative based in the Northeast to join our team in two of our brand's highest-priority markets. This is a career-building opportunity for someone who wants to develop real field sales expertise, deepen their knowledge of the outdoor cooking category, and grow within a brand that people love. As a Field Sales Representative, you will be on the ground every week building genuine partnerships with our retail accounts, driving sell-in, and growing Traeger's presence on the shop floor.
This territory covers the Northeastern Region (NY, VT, NH, ME, MA, CT, RI, NJ). You will focus your time on Platinum, Gold, and key accounts, with dedicated attention to Ace Hardware and Key Specialty dealers. Success in this role means growing revenue, expanding assortments, and making Traeger the best-represented brand in every door you own.
Extensive field travel is required - you will be on the road visiting dealers regularly, including overnight travel. You will report to a Regional Field Sales Manager and collaborate cross-functionally to serve your dealers. You must own the shop floor and own the shop employee.
How You'll Help Us Win
This is an autonomous, varied field role. Your time will be spent on the following activities:
Account Management & Sell-In (~50% of your time)
  • Show up to affect change on the retail floor - every visit should leave a store better than you found it; conduct structured pre-call planning and post-call recaps to hold yourself accountable
  • Drive sell-in: proactively present new products, seasonal assortments, and promotional programs to secure orders and grow Traeger's shelf presence in your accounts
  • Build and expand retailer partnerships - your goal is to be the most trusted and valued vendor rep in every door you walk into
  • Plan, forecast, and land financial targets on a quarterly and annual basis; check in regularly with your manager on progress against goals
  • Develop account assortments based on available space and strategic direction; monitor inventory levels and ensure optimal product flow
  • Identify and develop new distribution that is incremental and does not erode your existing retail accounts - grow the footprint without undercutting the partners you already have

Training, Demonstrations & Events (~20%)
  • Obsess over retailer training - equip every store employee with the product knowledge, confidence, and enthusiasm to sell and represent Traeger at point of sale
  • Identify and invest in key shop employees who can champion Traeger on the floor
  • Bring the energy to every interaction - Traeger sells an experience, not just a grill; your retailers should feel that every time you walk in the door
  • Execute in-store events, weekend activations, and demos - both as lead coordinator and as a supporting participant - during peak selling seasons
  • Attend all required team meetings, trade shows, company events, and associated team functions - full participation is an expectation of this role

Brand Elevation & Merchandising (~20%)
  • Become a merchandising expert: use Traeger-provided POP materials and fixtures to define a best-in-class brand experience in every door
  • Claim and protect Traeger's floor space; ensure our displays are always fully stocked, properly signed, and visually compelling
  • Work with your manager and key accounts to develop co-op marketing plans that elevate the Traeger brand at retail

Marketplace & Admin (~10%)
  • Stay current on local consumer trends and competitive activity; surface insights that could unlock new distribution or storytelling opportunities
  • Maintain 100% CRM adoption - your recaps, pipeline, and account data are how the team stays aligned and how you demonstrate the impact of your work in the field; manage your schedule and territory efficiently to make it happen

What You'll Need to Succeed
  • 1-3 years of experience in field sales, territory sales, or retail account management - consumer goods, outdoor/hardlines, or sporting goods experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to drive sell-in: you can walk into a store, build rapport with a buyer or manager, and leave with an order or commitment
  • Comfortable spending the majority of your workweek in the field - this role is not office-based
  • Strong verbal communication and relationship-building skills; you are confident presenting to store managers, buyers, and shop staff
  • Organized and self-directed; able to manage a multi-account territory without heavy supervision
  • Proven track record of hitting sales targets
  • Salesforce or similar CRM experience preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel overnight regularly
  • Physically able to be on your feet for extended periods of time and lift 50+ lbs - you will be moving grills, equipment, and event materials regularly
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, but equivalent field sales experience is equally valued - we care about what you've done, not just your credentials

Why You Will Love To Work Here:
  • Company Truck with gas card
  • Be part of the most disruptive force in outdoor cooking
  • Join a true team working towards a common goal
  • Culture of risk-taking, innovation, & quality
  • Full medical/dental/vision package to fit your needs
  • 401k to help you plan for the future
  • Tuition reimbursement
  • Individual professional development programs & initiatives to help you grow professionally
  • Great discounts on all things Traeger
  • Competitive base salary - build your career without the pressure of commission
  • Build real, transferable field sales skills working one of the most recognizable brands in outdoor cooking
