We're seeking an Equipment Operator III with a Class A Commercial Driver's License, offering competitive pay, 12 vacation days, and 12 paid holidays annually, along with opportunities for salary increases. Operate a variety of heavy motorized equipment and contribute to essential ditch construction and maintenance projects while enjoying the stability of daytime hours. Multiple Positions Available Examples of Duties Under general direction, you Operate medium and heavy motorized equipment, including but not limited to medium reach and mini excavator, Jet-Vac, front-end loader, tandem dump truck, lowboy, etc., and operate other equipment as required. Perform ditch construction and maintenance. Occasionally perform minor repairs and maintenance on equipment

May supervise a small work crew. Serve on the Critical Work Force Category 2 and there are times you will need to be on call on a 24-hour basis. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED, and Two (2) years of experience in the operation of medium and heavy Public Works or construction equipment; or Any equivalent combination of training and experience. Must be able to work in all weather conditions. Must provide and wear approved steel toe protective footwear during regular working hours.

Must possess and maintain a Class A Commercial Driver's License at the time of application. Must possess a Hazardous Material and Tanker endorsement or be able to obtain within six (6) months of hire date. Supplemental Information CDL drivers are subject to random drug testing.

During emergencies and disasters affecting Chatham County, you may be required to report to work as part of a disaster operations team. In accordance with the Department of Transportation, Commercial Driver's License (CDL) holders and those employed in safety-sensitive positions are subject to random drug testing. Candidates with direct and relevant experience may receive an offer of up to 10% above the minimum salary that is posted, reflecting their exceptional qualifications.
