Job description

Suncrest Hospice is looking for volunteers (16+ years old) in the Davis area. Our patients need visitors to chat with, read to them, sing to them, play music, play cards or games or many other activities so they are not lonely and bored. Do you enjoy people? Giving to others? Then we need you to be part of the Suncrest team as we provide excellent care and support to our hospice patients and their families in their homes and care facilities.

As a volunteer, you can choose between many opportunities: the gift of companionship, emotional support to the patient and the family, respite for the caregiver, listening to or playing music, reading, bringing a trained dog for comfort, etc. Volunteers are assigned at least one or more patients to visit patients on a weekly basis. Visits are usually around a hour and bring such joy and comfort to a hospice patient.

Volunteers are trained in their role with patients. We are required to conduct background checks and a TB test, at no charge to volunteers. No drug testing required.

Contact Nicole Rockwell, Volunteer Coordinator at Suncrest Hospice at NRockwell@suncrestcare.com or at 916-928-0102.
