DIRECTOR OF DINING SERVICES - Fond du Lac School District, Fond du Lac, WI
We are seeking an experienced and innovative Director of Dining Services to lead a comprehensive K-12 dining program serving approximately 5,700 students across 13 schools, including one high school, three middle schools, and nine elementary schools. This high-impact leadership role oversees all aspects of the district's food service operation, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, summer feeding, and catering programs. The Director will lead a team of 70 Compass associates, supported by an Executive Chef and two Administrative Assistants, while ensuring operational excellence, financial performance, and exceptional customer satisfaction.
The ideal candidate is a strategic, forward-thinking leader with strong K-12 foodservice experience and a passion for program innovation. This role requires a proven ability to drive engagement through marquee Compass programs such as Mood Boost, Global Eats, and Discovery Kitchen while building strong relationships with district stakeholders and school leaders. Success in this position requires expertise in team leadership, client partnerships, menu and program development, and financial management, along with the ability to leverage Compass resources to continuously enhance the dining experience and elevate program performance across the district.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire our team of 70 frontline associates.
  • Drive strategic initiatives to enhance customer satisfaction and increase profitability.
  • Recruit, train, and develop top talent within the organization.
  • Own the annual budget and control costs optimally.
  • Ensure adherence to quality, safety, and sanitation standards.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, customers, and associates.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient functioning of a dining service operation.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition/Management/Hospitality/Culinary preferred or equivalent experience.
  • K12 food service management experience
  • Five plus years of foodservice management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of high-volume food production and (catering trends) is preferred.
  • Previous P&L accountability or contract-managed services experience.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer skills.
