Adjunct Faculty—New Media
LIM College is currently seeking an experienced part-time Adjunct Faculty member to teach writing for new media as part of our undergraduate Fashion Media degree program.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Founded in 1939 and located in midtown Manhattan, LIM College is a female-led and owned institution
focused on the global business of fashion and lifestyle. Offering master’s, bachelor’s and associate degree programs, LIM prepares students for career success via an immersive approach grounded in real-world experience and learning by doing through required internships. LIM College’s commitment to excellence in business education ensures graduates are sought after by a wide range of employers, as evidenced by a Career Outcomes Rate of 96% for the Class of 2022. Alumni excel throughout all areas of fashion and lifestyle and have gone on to work for companies such as Chanel, Gucci, Alexander McQueen, Ross Stores, The Financial Times, Ulta Beauty, Google, Saks Fifth Avenue, Cannabis Creative, and The National Football League.
The successful candidate will have experience teaching hands-on courses in journalism (feature or news writing), storytelling, or digital media. As a leader in the field of experiential learning, LIM College looks for experienced industry professionals who can bring knowledge of industry into the classroom. Thus, working journalists and editors with knowledge of the New York City media industry are strongly encouraged to apply.
Ideally, candidates can demonstrate a history of teaching undergraduates using creative and active teaching methods that effectively integrate learning management platforms (Canvas, Blackboard, etc.).
Requirements: The person selected will have the following qualifications:
· Master’s degree in journalism, media studies, or related fields (Ph.D. preferred)
· Minimum of 2 – 3 years experience teaching in related fields
· Demonstrated ability to engage students using active learning
· Experience using learning management software for some aspects of course delivery as well as grading (Canvas knowledge preferred)
Candidates should be available to teach in person at our midtown Manhattan campus.
