Job Description

ProSidian Seeks a Construction Discipline Engineer, Piping - Construction (CO102) to support an engagement for a liquid waste contractor (Savannah River Remediation [SRR]) at the Savannah River Site in Aiken, SC, which is owned by the U.S. Department of Energy.  This service supports Environmental Management Sector Clients and ProSidian Team Members work as part of a Engagement Team Cadre to fulfill requirements.

Construction Discipline Piping Engineer Candidates Serve as Piping Field Engineers responsible for:

  • planning and technical oversight of field construction activities within a specified discipline associated with procurement, fabrication, installation, modification and maintenance of systems and components.
  • Coordinates with Design agencies to ensure timely issuance of new design or design changes.
  • Walk down and review designs for constructability, resolve design problems encountered in the field during construction and meets with and discusses solutions with Design Engineers.
  • Inspects / verifies materials, equipment, and construction workmanship and assures compliance with drawings, specifications and code requirements.
  • Coordinates with Quality Control to ensure the installation meets the requirements.
  • Participates in turnover activities. Supports / participates in start-up and functional check out of equipment and systems. 
  • Position requires a thorough understanding of Construction Engineering principles and ability to apply these principles to field conditions.

Experience in the preparation of computer-based construction work execution plans (work Packages) including job specific hazards analysis, i.e. Asset Suite and Assisted Hazard Analysis or equivalent

Design Output Constructability Reviews

  • Review design output and vendor documents

Qualifications

The Construction Discipline Piping Engineer shall have consecutive employment in a position with comparable responsibilities within the past five (5) years, Must be able to use a computer to communicate via email; and proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Word/Excel/PowerPoint) and related tools and technology required for the position. The Construction Discipline Piping Engineer position requires the following specific requirements:

  • Experienced with pipe / tubing fabrication and installation
  • Experienced with pipe support fabrication and installation
  • Experienced with pipe testing, hydrostatic and pneumatic
  • Familiar with National Codes ASME Piping codes B31.1 and B31.3
  • Capable of interpreting design drawings, P&ID's and Orthographics
  • Knowledge of SRS specific piping guides and standards is a plus
  • Experienced in radiological work planning and hazard analysis is desirable
  • Capable of climbing and spending extended periods of time in the field
  • Capable of obtaining qualification to work in radiological work areas

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in **(specified discipline) engineering and at least 5 years of practical experience in construction **(specified discipline) field engineering or
  • Associate's degree in (specified discipline) engineering and 5-10 years of practical experience in construction **(specified discipline) engineering or
  • High school diploma and 10+ years of practical experience in construction **(specified discipline) engineering
  • Working knowledge of discipline specific codes and standards
  • Previous experience with generating work execution plans (preferably utilizing the Asset Suite work control system)
  • Previous experience with generating job hazards analysis
  • Previous experience performing material take off and procurement
  • **Specific Discipline = (Mechanical, Piping, Electrical, Civil, Instruments and Controls) as determined by requestor

Work products shall be thorough, accurate, appropriately documented, and comply with established criteria. All employees, in the performance of their respective responsibilities, shall conduct themselves in the highest possible standards of ethical and business conduct.  The candidate shall ensure that duties are performed in a competent and professional manner that meets milestones/delivery schedules as outlined.

Required Qualifications are commensurate with functional and technical requirements of the Engineering Technician IV position. Minimum Education are commensurate with functional and technical requirements of the Engineering Technician IV position. Base Experience/Skills are commensurate with functional and technical requirements of the Engineering Technician IV position. Standard Work Hours are commensurate with functional and technical requirements of the Engineering Technician IV position. Additional Position Requirements:

Work hours:

  • A 40-hour workweek is scheduled. SRR construction utilizes a 10 hour per day - four days per week schedule.
  • A standard work week is Monday through Thursday 6:30am - 5:00pm. However, alternate schedules could be employed.
  • Workweek excludes SRR holidays.

Security:

  • Candidate must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Candidates must posses a valid driver's license
  • Personal vehicles operated by candidate must have valid registration
  • Personal vehicles operated by candidate must be insured with proof of insurance within the vehicle
  • All ProSidian staff must be determined eligible for a "Facility Access Authorization" (also referred to as an "Employment Authorization") by the USG's designated Security Office.
