Description
Summary:
The Food Service Worker is the first point of contact for Duchesne students, faculty, and staff, ensuring joyful service delivery, quality food, and appetizing presentation. The successful candidate must be willing to work any hours from 7:00am to 4:30pm, as well as after-hour and weekend events.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Perform prep work such as washing, peeling, cutting, and seeding fruits and vegetables.
  • Utilize approved recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures, and standard portion control. Notify cooks if food temperatures are not within acceptable limits.
  • Engage children while serving in an outgoing, friendly, and efficient manner to help guide them to build a nutritional meal.
  • Carry pans, kettles, and trays of food to and from workstations, stove, and refrigerator in accordance with safety standards.
  • Store food in designated areas following wrapping, dating, food safety and rotation procedures.
  • Set up stations for serving on hot and cold lines.
  • Perform general cleaning duties to include moving compost and garbage to designated areas.
  • Work in school's coffee shop, Cha Cha's.
  • Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines.
  • Perform other duties assigned.

Minimum Education/Prior Experience/Qualifications Required:
Successful candidates are energetic, high-performers, committed to the school's mission, who impress us with their drive, joy, initiative, and ability to work productively under multiple deadlines, where unanticipated external and internal events can shift priorities.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (one year of experience in lieu of education)
  • Previous food service experience in healthcare, hotel restaurant, or fast food is considered an asset.
  • Fluency in English is a plus

Requirements

Upon Hiring
  • Successful completion of criminal offender record information and sexual offender registry information checks.
  • Complete Food Handlers training/certification within 30 days of employment (valid Texas Certified Food Manager License in lieu of Food Handlers Certificate).
  • Successful completion of CMG Safe Environment Training.
  • Current CPR certification.

Physical Demands:
Frequent pushing, pulling, or lifting 10 or more pounds. Frequent and various back, forth, up and down movement; ambulate across dining hall and other food service areas to clean tables, benches, utensils, equipment, and appliances. Ability to communicate information so others will understand; follow instructions; determine that areas, equipment, and utensils are sufficiently clean and safe and in compliance with school and state standards; observe small objects up close; remain stationary for long periods of time; tolerate extreme temperatures.
