Cgss information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Certified Global Sanctions Specialist (CGSS), and why are they important?

To thrive as a Certified Global Sanctions Specialist (CGSS), you need a strong understanding of global sanctions laws, compliance procedures, and risk management, typically supported by a CGSS certification or equivalent experience. Familiarity with compliance monitoring systems, sanctions screening tools, and regulatory research databases is essential. Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and strong communication skills help professionals excel when interpreting regulations and advising organizations. These skills ensure accurate risk assessments, regulatory compliance, and the ability to navigate complex international legal frameworks.

What are some common challenges faced by CGSS professionals when working on classified military operations?

CGSS (Command and General Staff School) graduates often encounter challenges balancing operational tempo with the need for thorough planning and coordination. Working on classified military operations requires strict adherence to security protocols, which can limit information sharing and complicate collaboration with joint or allied forces. Additionally, professionals must stay updated on evolving technologies and threat landscapes, while maintaining clear communication across hierarchical structures. These challenges make adaptability, discretion, and strong teamwork essential for success.

What are CGSS professionals?

CGSS stands for Certified Global Sanctions Specialist. CGSS professionals are experts in global sanctions compliance, helping organizations understand, implement, and manage sanctions requirements imposed by governments and international bodies. They play a crucial role in ensuring that businesses avoid violations of economic and trade sanctions, which can result in significant legal and financial penalties. CGSS certification is offered by ACAMS (Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists) and is recognized worldwide as a standard for sanctions expertise.

Job description

Job Title: Solutions Architect
Location: Northern Virginia / Chantilly, VA (Onsite Focus)
Clearance: TS/SCI (with Full Scope Polygraph strongly preferred) About Chainalysis Government Solutions
Chainalysis Government Solutions (CGS) is a wholly-owned Chainalysis subsidiary providing
blockchain intelligence solutions—including technology, training, and services—to law
enforcement, defense, and national security customers across the U.S. Government. As a Solutions Architect, you will serve as a trusted technical advisor for our most sensitive
national security accounts. You will bridge the gap between complex blockchain data and
mission-critical objectives, building custom solutions that support the deployment and
integration of our projects within highly secure, classified environments. In this role, you’ll: ● Drive the Technical Win: Lead customer-facing technical discussions and architectural design to align Chainalysis capabilities with specific national security mission sets. ● Operate with High Autonomy: Proactively identify, develop, and demonstrate custom solutions and integrations with minimal supervision, frequently acting as the primary technical representative on-site. ● Bridge Classified Environments: Effectively collaborate across different security domains, translating mission requirements from classified environments to our uncleared engineering teams to influence product roadmaps. ● Enable the Mission: Provide on-site enablement, technical integration support, and use-case demonstrations within customer facilities in Chantilly, VA, Southern Maryland, and the greater DC metropolitan area. ● Architect Complex Systems: Provide guidance on technical challenges ranging from high-level architecture to specific code implementation (Python/SQL). ● Maintain Operational Access: Ensure consistent engagement with customer/classified systems to maintain active access and operational readiness. ● Build Partnerships: Partner with Sales and Account teams to identify new business opportunities and expand our footprint within the national security space. We’re looking for candidates who have: ● Active Security Clearance: A current U.S. Government TS/SCI is required; polygraph is highly preferred. , ● National Security Experience: Proven experience working within the national security, with a firm understanding of the unique operational constraints of classified work. ● Geographic Availability: Must be based in the D.C. Metro area and comfortable with frequent on-site visits to Chantilly, VA, Southern Maryland, and the greater DC metropolitan area. ● Technical Proficiency: Strong hands-on experience with Python and SQL is highly desired. ● Exceptional Communication: A mastery of "technical diplomacy"—the ability to listen actively, negotiate complex requirements, and convey technical concepts with empathy and integrity to stakeholders. ● Independence: A self-starter mindset with the ability to conduct solo client visits, perform deep-dive technical discovery, and manage projects from inception to completion. Nice to have: ● Crypto Expertise: Understanding of cryptocurrency ecosystems (mining, DeFi, smart contracts, tracing). ● Advanced Tech: Experience with Generative AI or Open Source Intelligence (OSINT). ● Certifications: Specialized finance or security certifications such as CAMS, CCAS, CGSS, or CFE. ● Policy Knowledge: Familiarity with relevant government oversight policies, procedures, and security requirements. ● Development: Full-stack development experience or a background in data science.
