Position Description:
CGI Federal is seeking a Mail Clerk/Automation Clerk to support the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO), Office of Asset and Facilities Management (OAFM), Administrative Service Branch (ASB) in Irving, TX.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
. Mail Screening and Security: Screen incoming mail, parcels, and shipments using X-ray machines and visual inspections to identify and isolate suspicious items from the normal mail stream. Follow local security procedures if suspicious items are received. Review, sort, and route a wide variety of correspondence and incoming materials to the appropriate program office.
. Mail Processing: Process incoming and outgoing mail, as well as FedEx/UPS packages, in accordance with agency and postal service requirements. Assist in updating old and establishing new distribution patterns and codes as needed.
. Physical Requirements: Perform tasks that require long periods of standing, bending, walking, pulling, reaching, and recurring lifting and carrying of bags, pouches, packages, and moderately heavy boxes weighing up to 70 pounds.
. Outgoing Material Screening: Screen outgoing materials to ensure proper format, assembly, and addressing in accordance with regulations. Contact originators or appropriate program offices to resolve errors or discrepancies.
. Mail Classification Knowledge: Possess knowledge of mail classifications, zip codes, sizes, and various types of special handling mail and materials, such as registered, priority, express, insured, certified, and return receipt requested.
. Administrative Support: Provide administrative assistance and staff support to customers, program specialists, and managers. Perform clerical duties such as sorting bulk mail from the post office, sorting and distributing supplies and mail, receiving and signing for accountable mail pieces, and performing additional mail handling tasks like rerouting misdirected mail, date stamping, counting mail, screening for priority items, and preparing routing and control forms.
. Mail Inspection and Rate Assignment: Inspect official mail by size, weight, and class; assign United States Postal Service (USPS) rates according to standards to ensure efficient use of postal funds. Operate postage meter
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
. High School Diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of 1 year of related experience.
. Must possess a valid state operator's permit for the type of vehicle being operated and have a proven safe driving record, as verified by the National Driver Register or an equivalent check.
. Ability to successfully complete the CGI Background Investigation, including a 50-state criminal check, education, and employment verification.
. Ability to successfully complete a credit and/or driving records check.
. Ability to obtain and maintain a Moderate Risk Public Trust security clearance.
. Active Secret or Top-Secret clearance is preferred.
. General knowledge of the USPS and proper handling of incoming and outgoing mail.
. Familiarity with distribution schedules and routes.
. Strong attention to detail.
. Due to the nature of this contract, U.S. Citizenship is required.
Hourly Rate: $20.09/hour
CGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors including but not limited to: skill set level, relevant experience and training, and licensure and certifications. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
