Description

UDC is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to join our Leadership team! This is a critical leadership role responsible for shaping the company's financial strategy and helping guide the organization through its next stage of growth. The CFO will serve as a strategic partner to the CEO and Leadership Team, bringing financial insight, business acumen, and thoughtful leadership to key decisions across the organization.



The CFO will be based at one of the company's offices in Englewood, CO or Waukesha, WI.



What you will do

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) serves as a key member of the executive leadership team and is responsible for UDC's overall financial strategy, financial planning and analysis, record and report accounting operations, business planning, and business performance management, including oversight of human resources, contract administration and commercial administration.

The CFO will transform finance into a strategic business partner by providing timely insights, forecasting future performance, improving operational economics, and supporting executive decision-making.


Strategic Leadership 

Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO, executive leadership team, and UDC Board members. 

Develop financial strategies that support long-term growth, profitability, and enterprise value creation.

Lead annual strategic planning and long-range financial planning.

Evaluate expansion investments, new service offerings, and international partnership opportunities.

Build financial models supporting strategic initiatives and business cases.

Develop scalable financial infrastructure capable of supporting substantial future growth.


Financial Planning 

Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes.

Develop rolling forecasts and scenario modeling.

Build executive dashboards and KPI reporting.

Analyze profitability by client, business line, geography, and project.

Improve forecasting accuracy and decision support throughout the organization.

Drive resource planning and capacity planning across the business.

Identify operational opportunities to improve margins and cash flow.

Provide executive oversight for the payroll function, ensuring strict compliance with government tax regulations, benefits deductions, and financial auditing standards. 


Accounting & Financial Operations

Provide executive leadership over Accounting and Finance team operations. 

Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.

Maintain strong internal controls and financial governance.

Oversee cash management, tax coordination, audit, and banking relationships.

Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

Continue improving accounting processes through automation and technology.

Human Resources Oversight

Provide executive leadership for the Human Resources function.

Oversee executive compensation and incentive plan maintenance and expansion.

Align people strategies with the Company's long-term business objectives.

Oversee workforce planning and organizational design.

Lead leadership development and succession planning efforts.

Oversee benefits strategy and vendor selection.

Partner with executive leadership to build a high-performance culture.

Administration Oversight

Oversee office administration and facilities.

Manage corporate insurance administration.

Oversee business licensing and corporate records.

Oversee business continuity planning.

Oversee operational support services.

Oversee vendor administration for corporate services



Contract Administration Oversight

Oversee customer contract review and approval process.

Assess commercial risk.

Coordinate with legal counsel as required.

Oversee contract compliance.

Monitor contractual obligations, change orders, and financial exposure.

Oversee client billing terms and commercial governance.

Business Partnership 

Partner with Operations leadership to improve project profitability.

Support Sales leadership with pricing, contract economics, and revenue analysis.

Collaborate with HR on workforce planning and compensation strategy.

Provide financial insight for major customer contracts and commercial decisions.

Help establish a culture of accountability through meaningful operational metrics.




Company Performance Management

Internal Systems and Process Improvements 

Partner with Director of Finance & Accounting to continue developing a modern finance organization utilizing cloud-based ERP and business intelligence tools.

Improve financial reporting automation and dashboard capabilities.

Provide executive leadership and guidance through finance-related systems implementations and process improvements.

Champion data quality and enterprise analytics.





Supervisory Responsibilities 

Direct reports to the CFO will include the Director of Finance & Accounting, Director of Finance Planning & Analysis, and the VP Human Resources. The CFO will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Demonstrated success partnering with executive leadership teams.
  • Strong experience in financial planning and analysis and oversight of accounting and financial control operations.
  • Deep understanding of business drivers, operational finance, and performance management.
  • Ability to lead administrative functions including Human Resources and Contract Administration.
  • Strong executive communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience building financial models and supporting strategic decisions.
  • Ability to influence across departments without direct authority.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience supporting unleveraged, privately owned, or high-growth companies is a plus.
  • Experience implementing or optimizing ERP and business intelligence platforms.
  • Experience scaling organizations from approximately $100M to significantly larger enterprises.
  • Broad executive leadership experience over administrative functions.
  • CPA preferred, but not required.

  • 15+ years of progressive financial leadership experience. 
  • Experience leading finance for a professional services, engineering, consulting, technology services, or similar project-based organization. 





Compensation range: 

$230,000-$260,000 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate's skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
