What are CFO Advisory Services?

CFO Advisory Services are professional consulting offerings designed to help businesses with high-level financial strategy, planning, and management. These services typically include financial forecasting, budgeting, cash flow management, financial reporting, and strategic guidance to improve profitability and growth. They are often provided by experienced Chief Financial Officers (CFOs) or financial consultants who work with organizations on a part-time, interim, or project basis. The goal is to provide expert financial leadership and insights without the need for a full-time, in-house CFO.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in CFO Advisory Services, and why are they important?

To excel in CFO Advisory Services, you need a solid background in finance, accounting, and strategic business analysis, often supported by a CPA, CFA, or MBA qualification. Familiarity with financial modeling tools, ERP systems, and data analytics platforms is typically required. Outstanding communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills help advisors build trust and guide clients through complex financial decisions. These skills are crucial for delivering actionable insights, driving organizational growth, and ensuring clients achieve their financial objectives.

Job Summary:
We are seeking an Advisory Manager to join our CFO Advisory Services practice-someone who thrives in complex, evolving environments and brings structure, clarity, and forward momentum when it matters most.
This role is ideal for a consulting-minded professional who excels at entering unstructured or high-pressure finance environments, quickly diagnosing what's not working, designing thoughtful solutions, and leading hands-on execution alongside clients. Our CFO Advisory team partners closely with finance leaders, boards, and audit committees during periods of growth, transformation, and transaction activity.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Entering complex or ambiguous finance environments to assess challenges across people, processes, data, and systems
  • Provide strategic financial leadership to clients, including providing interim services such as Head of Finance or Controller for organizations without dedicated finance leadership
  • Identifying root-cause issues and translating them into clear, pragmatic, and executable solutions
  • Leading and delivering engagements across key Office of the CFO service areas, including:
    • Transaction readiness and execution support (buy-side and sell-side)
    • Finance advisory and transformation, including financial operations, process redesign, standardization, and optimization
    • Management, external, and board-level reporting improvements
  • Supporting CFOs with board and audit committee communications, including financial reporting readiness, audit support, and executive-level insights
  • Serving as the day-to-day engagement lead, managing scope, timelines, and client expectations
  • Working side-by-side with client teams to ensure solutions designed, implemented and sustained
  • Coaching and developing consultants and senior associates
  • Building strong, trust-based relationships with CFOs, Controllers, board members, and executive stakeholders
  • Contributing to practice growth through client expansion, solution development, and thought leadership

Education & Experience:
  • 6+ years of experience in CFO Advisory, Transaction Advisory, Management Consulting, FP&A leadership, Finance Transformation, or Public Accounting
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required
  • CPA or Master's degree (MBA, MAcc, or MS in Finance) required
  • Strong foundation in accounting, finance operations, and financial reporting from previous consulting or industry experience required
  • Experience supporting CFO-level initiatives such as finance transformation, transactions, or regulatory readiness desired
  • Proven ability to lead client engagements and manage multiple workstreams
  • Experience developing and mentoring junior team members
