Job Overview

We are seeking a**Senior CFD Analyst **to join our race team in Welcome NC. In this role, you will use advanced computational fluid dynamics to optimize the aerodynamic performance of our race cars. You will simulate airflow behavior to maximize downforce, minimize drag, and improve vehicle handling under diverse track conditions. Your insights will directly impact vehicle development, setup strategies, and on-track performance of our race team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate and maintain high-quality CAD data for CFD model. Develop and refine strategies to create optimized meshing scheme for CFD solver.

  • Build and run high-fidelity external aerodynamics simulations of the vehicle in various racing attitudes (yaw, pitch, roll, and steer).

  • Analyze simulation results and make recommendations to the team based on findings.

  • Validate CFD model results against data from wind tunnel and track testing.

  • Collaborate closely with OEM, aerodynamicists, design engineers, and vehicle dynamics teams to translate CFD insights into performance improvements.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with an emphasis on fluid dynamics.
  • 5+ years of experience using CFD, preferably in motorsports.
  • Proficient with industry-standard CFD software such as ANSYS Fluent / Star-CCM+ / OpenFOAM utilizing advanced turbulence models (DES, LES, SST k-omega).
  • Experience setting up, submitting, and managing large-scale simulation queues on High-Performance Computing (HPC) platforms.
  • Robust understanding of vehicle aerodynamics principles
  • Thrive Under Pressure: Comfort working in a fast-paced environment dictated by the weekly race calendar.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree with a specific focus on Computational Fluid Dynamics or Experimental Aerodynamics.
  • Prior experience in Nascar, IndyCar, Formula 1, or other professional motorsports organization.
  • Familiarity with Nascar regulations and aerodynamic constraints.
  • Familiarity with vehicle dynamics and how aerodynamic forces couple with mechanical grip.
