Job description

Primary Function:


Responsible for directing Industrial Electrical Apprentices to successfully install, test, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical systems and/or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, and fixtures using hand and
power tools.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintains compliance with all OSHA, CES safety policy, customer safety requirements,
    and company policies and enforces them with the workforce under his/her responsibility.
  • Immediately identifies, corrects, and/or reports any unsafe acts, conditions or incidents.
    Directly responsible for their own safety and the safety of others.
  • Directly supervises up to 2 team members and responsible for projects lasting up to 10
    days in heavy industrial and commercial settings.
  • Responsible maintaining materials, to accomplish goals and objectives set forth by the
    Leadman, Foreman and General Foreman.
  • Bends and installs conduit, installs lighting and basic control systems.
  • Performs wire and cable pulls.
  • Installs motor feeders and makes standard motor connections.
  • Installs control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, circuit breaker
    panels, switchboards, transformers, and motor control centers.
  • Plans layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures based on
    project drawings, specifications, and National Electrical Code.
  • Works from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring,
    equipment, and fixtures.
  • Cleans and maintains jobsite, tools, and vehicles.
  • Perform physically demanding task such as digging trenches, and moving and lifting
    heavy objects.
  • Works without direct supervision and helps lead apprentices.
  • Provides teaching, coaching, and mentoring to apprentices.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
  • Will be required to work overtime for shutdowns in plants and factories. Also working
    early morning or late night outages in industrial and commercial buildings.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Position requires a strong knowledge in the recent current National Electrical Code and
    must be proficient at reading and following blueprints, electrical schematics, and project
    specifications.
  • Individuals must demonstrate a focus on safety, quality, customer service, and operate with
    honesty and integrity.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must meet the requirements of a Qualified Electrician.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Must have dependable transportation.
  • U.S. work authorization without sponsorship.
  • OSHA 10-hour training (may be obtained within 6 months of hire or promotion).
  • A minimum of 3 years’ of field experience. In lieu of 3 years of field experience, must have 2 years field experience and 1 year of classroom training in a federally or nationally recognized electrical apprenticeship program (IEC) required.
  • Must pass Conaway Electrical Service, Inc. Journeyman Test.
  • Must demonstrate solid planning, organizing, time management, communication
    and problem solving skills.
  • Must be self-driven, reliable and able to perform all duties and responsibilities
    under pressure.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

Continuing Education and Growth:

  • Minimum of 4 hours annually in applicable codes, standards, or new technologies

Physical Demands and Work Environment (not complete list):

  • Must be able to climb and maintain balance while working on ladders, scaffolding, lifts and elevated surfaces.
  • Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds with assistance or mechanical aids.
  • Must be able to work in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, humidity, etc.) while being exposed to dust, dirt, noise vibrations and fumes.
  • Must be able to see color coding on wires, hear verbal instructions, alarms and jobsite warnings
  • Must be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Travel:

  • Travels to projects outside CES home base areas as needed. Length of assignment based
    on project duration.
  • Work out of town involves overnight stays from 4 to 17 days at a time, if needed.
  • Per diem paid for out of town travel

Additional Requirements:

  • Must pass a background check, company physical and drug screen in
    accordance with company policy
