Job description

Company Overview

The Intersect Group is partnering with a leading managed technology services organization that helps businesses align technology investments with operational goals, growth initiatives, and risk management strategies. The organization serves as a trusted advisor to its clients, delivering strategic guidance, technology leadership, and managed services that enable long term business success.

With a strong emphasis on client relationships, business outcomes, and technology modernization, this organization empowers companies to make informed technology decisions while navigating an increasingly complex IT and cybersecurity landscape. This is an opportunity to join a team that values strategic thinking, executive presence, and consultative leadership.

Role Summary

The Intersect Group is seeking a Virtual Chief Information Officer (vCIO) to serve as a strategic technology advisor for a portfolio of managed services clients. This individual will function as a trusted executive partner, helping organizations align technology initiatives with business objectives, manage risk, prioritize investments, and develop actionable technology roadmaps.

The ideal candidate combines executive level communication skills, business acumen, and broad technology leadership experience. Rather than serving as the deepest technical resource, the vCIO will guide strategic decision making, translate technical concepts into business outcomes, and help clients make informed technology investments that support growth, efficiency, and risk reduction.

Key Responsibilities

โ€ข Own and maintain technology roadmaps for a portfolio of managed services clients

โ€ข Partner with executive stakeholders to align technology strategies with business goals and organizational priorities

โ€ข Serve as the primary strategic technology advisor for clients lacking internal technology leadership

โ€ข Translate technical risks, challenges, and opportunities into clear business recommendations

โ€ข Lead executive level discussions regarding technology planning, budgeting, investments, and modernization initiatives

โ€ข Develop strategic recommendations that improve operational efficiency, reduce risk, and support business growth

โ€ข Guide clients through technology decision making and build consensus among key stakeholders

โ€ข Convert technical assessments and discovery findings into prioritized roadmaps and actionable business strategies

โ€ข Maintain a current understanding of client environments, business objectives, and evolving technology trends

โ€ข Collaborate with technical delivery teams, solution engineers, and account teams to support client success

โ€ข Support technology investment planning, budgeting discussions, and long term strategic initiatives

โ€ข Foster trusted advisor relationships with executive leaders, department heads, and key decision makers

Key Requirements

โ€ข Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field

โ€ข 10+ years of experience in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or Technology Consulting with significant leadership, management, or strategic advisory experience

โ€ข Demonstrated experience developing technology roadmaps and driving long term IT strategy initiatives

โ€ข Experience leading IT budgeting, technology investment planning, CapEx and OpEx discussions, and organizational planning efforts

โ€ข Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts to executive and board level stakeholders in business terms

โ€ข Strong understanding of compliance and regulatory frameworks including HIPAA, PCI DSS, CJIS, CMMC, GLBA, or similar standards

โ€ข Experience serving as a trusted advisor to executive leadership and influencing strategic business decisions

โ€ข Broad technical knowledge across infrastructure, cloud, cybersecurity, and enterprise technology environments

โ€ข Strong relationship management, communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills

โ€ข Ability to balance multiple client relationships while maintaining strategic focus and execution

Preferred Qualifications

โ€ข Director, CIO, VP of IT, IT Manager, Technology Consultant, or similar senior technology leadership experience

โ€ข Experience working within a Managed Service Provider or Managed Security Services Provider environment

โ€ข Background in consulting, advisory services, client facing technology leadership, or solution based engagements

โ€ข Experience supporting organizations in manufacturing, financial services, healthcare, or other regulated industries

โ€ข Familiarity with managed security services, cybersecurity platforms, EDR, MDR, and risk management strategies

โ€ข Knowledge of RMM platforms, professional services automation tools, and IT documentation platforms

โ€ข Understanding of modern cloud technologies and digital transformation initiatives

โ€ข Relevant technology, security, or business certifications

Why This Opportunity

โ€ข Serve as a strategic technology leader for a diverse portfolio of organizations

โ€ข Influence executive level decision making and long term technology investments

โ€ข Act as a trusted advisor focused on business outcomes rather than day to day technical support

โ€ข Work alongside experienced solution engineering and delivery teams

โ€ข Engage with a wide variety of industries, business models, and technology environments

โ€ข Opportunity to make a direct impact on client growth, operational maturity, and technology strategy

โ€ข Blend technology leadership, business consulting, and client relationship management within a highly visible role

Additional Details

โ€ข Support approximately 20 to 30 managed services clients

โ€ข Client environments range from organizations with established IT leadership to those requiring outsourced technology leadership

โ€ข Travel is primarily regional and focused on client engagement and relationship management

โ€ข Opportunity to work with clients across manufacturing, financial services, healthcare, and other industries

โ€ข Strategic advisory role with significant executive interaction and influence
