Job description

Challenger School is seeking an intelligent, science-loving individual to be a Middle School Science teacher.

We are currently hiring for our eight locations in the Bay Area.

  • Shawnee (500 Shawnee Lane, San Jose, CA  95123)
  • Strawberry Park (730 Camina Escuela, San Jose, CA 95129)
  • Sunnyvale (1185 Hollenbeck Avenue, Sunnyvale, CA  94087)


As a teacher at Challenger, you will teach individual responsibility, self-confidence, and independence through your science lessons. Our classes are fast paced, fun, and have a proven curriculum already in place. Specific teaching degrees and certificates are not required to teach at Challenger School. As this is an immediate opening to take over your own middle school classes, a background in science and/or education is helpful.


Responsibilities

  • Thoroughly learn Challenger’s curriculum, teaching methods, and philosophy
  • Maintain a safe and productive classroom environment
  • Prepare lesson plans and teach daily classes
  • Grade daily student homework assignments
  • Consistently attend required training and teaching days
  • Communicate regularly with parents and administrators on student progress
  • Work patiently with students, parents, and coworkers

Qualifications

  • 4-year college bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Completion of pre-employment assessments
