Your Mission

As a Risk Manager you will provide leadership on the implementation and execution of the risk management and governance processes on the Willow Rock Energy Storage Center (WRESC) Project.


This position plans, organizes, directs, performs, reviews and presents risk information and conducts audits to ensure compliance with project procedures for all service-related contractors for the project, including but not limited to subsurface, transmission line, surface facilities, reservoir, and other project development scopes of work.


This role works closely with our EPCM risk management team to ensure effective utilization of all EPCM capabilities. These activities support the achievement of project technical and commercial objectives in line with internal and external requirements, ensuring consistency with Silver City and other major capital investments at Hydrostor.


Your Day-to-Day Adventures

  • Understand key business objectives and drivers of the WRESC Project;
  • Work as a member of the project controls team, proactively advising internal and external stakeholders of risk and improvement opportunities for review and action;
  • Assist Execution Directors and Functional Leaders (e.g. VP โ€“ Engineering, Director โ€“ Contracting & Procurement, etc.) in identifying which process and controls the project needs to implement in order to be successfully executed and comply with statutory as well as project requirements;
  • Promote and enable the ongoing development of a governance & risk culture; and
  • Effectively communicate status and provide risk reporting to senior management and other key stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement the Project Risk Management Plan as well as Risk Governance, including the risk register and assurance processes. Coordinate with Hydrostorโ€™s Finance & Accounting organization for periodic audits as may be required by internal and external requirements.
  • Facilitate risk workshops to assess changes and identify activities, which would provide reasonable assurance that the project risks are identified, measured and managed, including validation of any assumptions and interpretations. Help think about recommendations and develop risk mitigation plans.
  • Maintain a current and detailed knowledge of the project scope and execution progress to proactively identify risks and opportunities.
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure they are aware of potential changes and their implications for strategy and operations.
  • Develop and report the risk dashboard for senior management;
  • Leverage conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills to proactively assist the SVP โ€“ Project Execution and the WRSLT with the safe and successful implementation of the project ensuring actively identification and management of key risks.


Who You Are

As the Risk Manager, you will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of project risk management processes acrossWillow Rock Energy Storage Center (WRESC) Project.


Working for Hydrostor, you will partner closely with Project Directors, Engineering, Construction, Commercial, Project Controls, HSE and Executive Leadership to proactively identify, assess, mitigate and monitor strategic and project delivery risks throughout the project lifecycle.


This role plays a critical part in protecting project outcomes by ensuring risks and opportunities are systematically managed, reported and embedded into decision-making. The successful candidate will bring significant experience in large-scale construction projects, strong commercial and technical awareness, and the ability to influence stakeholders across EPC, EPCM and owner/operator organisations.


What You Bring

  • 10+ years' experience in project risk management within major projects.
  • Extensive experience in renewable energy, transmission, mining, oil & gas, infrastructure or heavy industrial construction.
  • Experience working within owner/operator, EPC and/or EPCM project delivery environments.
  • Demonstrated success implementing project risk management frameworks on projects exceeding $500M in value.
  • Strong understanding of project lifecycle governance from development through commissioning and handover.
  • Experience facilitating multidisciplinary risk workshops with executive and project stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to develop risk registers, treatment plans and executive dashboards.
  • Experience integrating risk management with project controls, scheduling, estimating and commercial functions.
  • Understanding of project governance standards.
  • Experience supporting executive decision-making through clear risk reporting and analysis.
