Job description

Step into a meaningful contract opportunity supporting high school students as a Special Education Teacher. Starting September 1 with the new school year, this role is near the New London, WI, area and is designed to make a real difference in the lives of students who benefit from individualized instruction and support.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid Special Education Teaching certification.
  • Previous experience working with high school students preferred.
  • Ability to deliver targeted reading instruction to students with varying needs.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills for effective case management.
  • Familiarity with IEP processes and providing executive functioning support based on individual student plans.
  • Collaborative nature for working alongside another teacher dedicated to math instruction.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide reading minutes and specialized instruction to high school students in accordance with their IEPs (not all students require reading support).
  • Serve as case manager for a caseload of 8 students, ensuring compliance with documentation and IEP implementation.
  • Assess and deliver executive functioning interventions when prescribed in individual student plans.
  • Maintain positive and supportive relationships with students; the current group demonstrates minimal behavioral challenges.
  • Collaborate closely with team members, including another Special Education Teacher focused on math.
  • Participate in regular communication with staff and families to maximize student success and facilitate teamwork.

Work Schedule:

  • Contract position following the school calendar.
  • Hours are Monday through Friday, 7:55 AM to 3:15 PM.
