How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)
SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As Machine Operator, you may operate fabricating machines, such as cutoff saws, shears, rolls, brakes, presses, forming machines, spinning machines and punch machines that cut shape and bend metal plates, sheets, tubes, and structures.
What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)
While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:
  • Load and unload materials into machine
  • Setup and change tooling used in the machine
  • Operate machine controls and change programming for each work order
  • Interpret mechanical engineered drawings (blueprints)
  • Troubleshoot issues with assistance
  • Clean machines and complete preventative maintenance per schedule
  • Complete necessary paperwork
  • Report on supply levels
  • Assist in other work areas as needed
  • Additional duties as assigned

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)
We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:
Required Experience
  • 1 year experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 1 year experience operating fabricating machinery
  • Read a tape measure and ruler and convert fractions to decimals and decimals to fractions

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • 1-2 years' experience programming equipment
  • Meet all product quality requirements
  • Ability to use precision hand tools
  • Spot welding
  • Attention to detail

Education & Certifications
  • High school diploma or GED required

Travel & Working Environment
  • Onsite
  • The employee will be required to stand and walk for at least 8 hours.
  • Regularly be required to push/pull material with assistance of overhead crane.
  • Climb stairs, reach and bend regularly
  • Occasionally sit, grasp, climb, crawl, twist, and work at heights.
  • Occasionally lift, hold and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Manufacturing environment requires use of required Personal Protective Equipment, such as foot, eye and ear protection when in production locations
  • Potential exposure to bad weather, excessive heat, and/or excessive noise

As required by law in this state, the estimated salary range for this position is $37,000 - $61,000 and represents our good faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect. We tailor our offers within the range based on organizational needs, internal equity, market data, geographic zone, and the selected candidate's experience, education, industry knowledge, location, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the selection process. At SPX, it is not common for individuals to be hired at the higher end of the range, and compensation decisions depend on a variety of factors. This position is eligible to participate in a discretionary bonus, subject to the rules governing the plan.
