Job description

Audubon is currently seeking a Coating Inspector to join our team in our Off-Site Office. The Coating Inspector is the client's representative to oversee paint crews and inspect the progress of coating activities of the painting contractor. This person also inspects application with respect to specification, code, drawings and contract requirements. The Coating Inspector may report to a Construction Manager or Inspection Manager and may support additional craft inspection as necessary. This is an ongoing requisition in which our Inspection Division frequently receives openings throughout the year. In those cases, we will review any applications and reach out to those who fit the requirements of the active role.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees daily JSA (Job Safety Analysis).
  • Attends daily safety meetings.
  • Ensures safe working operational environment utilizing the proper equipment.
  • Organizes daily work activities in accordance with work plan or project schedule.
  • Monitors project status and progress reporting.
  • Manage project with respect to coating application.
  • Oversee personnel on the coating application, ensures that paint crews are experienced and familiar with coating systems being applied.
  • Visual inspection of crew's job performance and workmanship.
  • Can utilize safely and proficiently required tools and equipment to perform proper coating inspection.
  • Familiarity with industry specifications, i.e. NACE and SSPC.
  • Collect and maintain all required MSDS with coating systems being utilized.
  • Communicated any changes in the field are communicated through proper document control conventions.
  • Assures adherence to company or client specifications.
  • Reports daily to client, Construction Manager or Project Manager about activities and issues concerning painting and coating aspects of the project.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Formal training and/or certification through NACE.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Coating Inspector).
  • Proven experience as a Coating Inspector.
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
  • Proven experience in construction.
  • Places safety as a first priority.
  • Extensive knowledge of fabrication procedures is required.
  • Problem solving abilities must be evident.
  • Good communication skills with crew members as well as clients are vital.
  • Must be able to work for stretches of 7 days or longer at a time.
  • Travel to and from worksites and/or fabrication shops around the country is often required.
  • Ability to routinely and efficiently use Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, etc.) and Microsoft Outlook.
