Project for Pride in Living (PPL) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering low-income individuals and families to become self-reliant through integrated services in housing, employment, and education. Position Summary
PPL is looking for a talented, people-person to join our Financial Coaching and Homeownership Team. This team is dedicated to providing services and resources that work to close the racial wealth gap. This position will perform high quality loan processing (origination) of second mortgages in the form of down payment assistance for homebuyers with an emphasis on underserved markets. Their duties include but not limited to researching a client's credit, income and assets, reviewing applications based on policy guidelines.
• What You'll Do
  • Must be willing to obtain or maintain certifications for homebuyer counseling, homebuyer education, financial coaching, and foreclosure prevention
  • Possess and/or must obtain NMLS License within your first 90 days of employment
  • Collect, review, and analyze applicants' relevant credit, employment, complex income structures, debt-to-income ratios, collateral, and capacity to repay mortgage and financial history and documentation
  • Conduct individualized advising sessions with clients interested in purchasing a home
  • Utilize one-on-one coaching methods to build and strengthen relationships and rapport with participants
  • Must be open to travel for training, occasional meetings and events as needed
  • Connect participants with appropriate community agencies and resources as needed

What You Bring
  • 2 years of lending experience, or comparable, with strong skills in credit and income analysis
  • Experience teaching financial literacy and/or asset building activities with economically disadvantaged populations
  • Ability to work independently in a team setting
  • Must have reliable transportation and valid driver's license

Minimum Technology Qualifications
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Word and Excel
  • Experience and ability to use customer relationship management databases (preferably with Apricot, HomeKeeper)
