Job description

Frederick Health's IT department is seeking a Server Systems Engineer with a minimum of 3 years' experience in a Windows Server Environment. The Systems Engineer is entrusted with the management, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, including Citrix, Windows, Linux, EMR (Meditech, Cerner, Epic), SAN, and related infrastructure, within the Information Services Department. This role is responsible for ensuring that system uptime, performance, resource utilization, and security consistently meet or exceed the organization’s established service level agreements. Key responsibilities encompass the procurement, installation, and upgrading of hardware and software components, the implementation of routine automation, enforcement of security policies, and the resolution of technical issues.

In addition to technical duties, the Systems Engineer may be required to train, supervise, and provide technical guidance to staff, as well as deliver expert support for departmental projects. Strict adherence to departmental change control processes is mandatory, and a comprehensive understanding of cybersecurity best practices is expected to ensure the secure execution of all assigned responsibilities.

As an engineering resource, the Systems Engineer provides expert-level support, system deployment, and administration across all on-premises, cloud, physical, and virtual computing environments, which host mission-critical applications and services. This position collaborates extensively with Infrastructure Engineers and supports teams to implement, monitor, and maintain production, test, and development environments. Coordination with Project Managers, Application Analysts, non-Infrastructure IT teams, and management is essential to guarantee the successful deployment of technical changes, upgrades, and new solutions.

The incumbent is accountable for delivering high-quality design, maintenance, configuration, and support of information technology systems within a 24x7 production environment, with a primary focus on system availability, performance, capacity planning, and security.

Required qualifications include:

    • Strong Knowledge on Windows Server Operating systems
    • Strong Knowledge of Cisco USC Servers and Infrastructure
    • Strong Knowledge Office 365
    • Strong knowledge of Active Directory including Group Policy Management, DNS
    • Strong knowledge with Virtual Environment (VMWare)
    • Good project management skills.
    • Knowledge with Imprivata, Citrix, Ivanti EndPoint/Asset, Cisco UCS and Sans a plus
    • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Ability to conduct research into systems issues and products as required.
    • Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.
    • Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
    • Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities.
    • Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
    • Strong customer service orientation.
    • Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

Additional job requirements: B.S. in Computer Science or related Field preferred. Microsoft Certified System Administrator or Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer preferred.

Salary Range: $90,500.80 - $129,688
