Pain Management Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner

Job location: Shreveport, LA

Job type: Full-time / Permanent

Job description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) / Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our Chronic Pain Management Clinic on a Full-time basis. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive, patient-centered care in an outpatient pain management setting, with a focus on the evaluation, treatment, and long-term management of chronic pain conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations, including vital signs, medical histories, and focused physical examinations, using sound anatomical knowledge and aseptic techniques.

  • Manage chronic pain conditions in an outpatient clinic, including medication management and longitudinal follow-up care.

  • Assist with and interpret diagnostic evaluations (medical imaging, lab data) and apply accurate ICD-9/ICD-10 coding for documentation and billing.

  • Collaborate with physicians and care teams on treatment planning, referrals, and continuity of care.

  • Support discharge planning, post-acute care coordination, home health services, and hospice or palliative care when appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) /Nurse Practitioner with current state licensure in good standing.

  • Prior experience in pain management, spine care, neurology, neurosurgery, or palliative medicine is highly preferred.

  • Proficiency with EMR systems such as Azalea, Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks; working knowledge of ICD-9/ICD-10 coding preferred.

  • Demonstrated clinical skills, including injections, phlebotomy, and other procedural competencies relevant to pain management (training provided for specialty procedures as needed).

  • Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology with the ability to perform efficient, accurate physical examinations.
