Position Summary
Huron is seeking a Digital Technical Specialist - Associate / Senior Associate with a dual focus on integration development and project management. This role is ideal for a technically strong integration developer who can also effectively plan, coordinate, and lead integration workstreams or small-to-mid-sized projects within complex healthcare environments.
The ideal candidate brings hands-on integration engine experience, deep knowledge of healthcare data exchange standards, strong SQL skills, and a demonstrated ability to manage timelines, scope, stakeholders, and delivery. Experience working within or supporting Epic, Oracle Health (Cerner), and/or MEDITECH environments is required.
Key Responsibilities
Integration Development & Technical Delivery
  • Design, develop, test, implement, and support HL7, FHIR, and API-based integrations across healthcare systems
  • Build and maintain interfaces using industry-standard integration platforms such as Cloverleaf, Rhapsody, Corepoint, Mirth Connect, InterSystems (Ensemble / IRIS), or comparable engines
  • Develop and support real-time and batch interfaces including ADT, orders, results, charges, scheduling, and master file updates
  • Analyze interface requirements, source/target specifications, and data mappings to translate business and clinical needs into technical solutions
  • Troubleshoot complex integration issues across upstream and downstream systems, ensuring data integrity and reliability
  • Support data extraction, transformation, and reconciliation using SQL and related tools
  • Contribute to integration-related activities tied to EHR implementations, upgrades, migrations, and conversions
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, interface specifications, data mappings, and operational runbooks

Project Management & Workstream Leadership
  • Serve as integration project manager or workstream lead for assigned initiatives
  • Develop and manage project plans, schedules, milestones, and dependencies for integration efforts
  • Coordinate tasks across internal team members, client stakeholders, and third-party vendors
  • Track status, risks, issues, and mitigation plans; proactively escalate when needed
  • Lead or support integration testing cycles, cutover planning, and go-live readiness
  • Facilitate regular status meetings and provide clear, concise client-facing updates
  • Ensure delivery aligns with scope, quality standards, timelines, and client expectations

Must be willing and able to travel up to 25% of the time as required per client demands.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience)
  • Healthcare industry experience (required), including hospital, health system, or healthcare IT consulting environments
  • Hands-on experience with one or more integration engines / platforms, such as:
    • Cloverleaf
    • Rhapsody
    • Corepoint
    • Mirth Connect
    • InterSystems Ensemble or IRIS
    • Or comparable integration technologies
  • Strong working knowledge of HL7 (v2.x required; v3 preferred)
  • Experience with FHIR, RESTful APIs, and modern interoperability patterns
  • Understanding of USCDI, interoperability regulations, and healthcare data standards
  • Strong SQL skills, including querying, troubleshooting, and data validation
  • Experience supporting or integrating with one or more major EHR platforms:
    • Epic
    • Oracle Health (Cerner)
    • MEDITECH
  • Demonstrated ability to manage priorities, deliver independently, and operate effectively in ambiguous or fast-paced environments
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Qualifications
  • Integration engine certifications (e.g., Epic Bridges certification, Cloverleaf certification, InterSystems training)
  • Prior experience acting as a project manager, technical lead, or workstream lead for integration initiatives
  • Experience with healthcare regulatory or compliance-driven integrations (e.g., public health reporting, registries, HIEs)
  • Consulting experience in a client-facing role
  • Experience mentoring junior integration analysts or developers

The estimated base salary for this job is $120,000 - $145,000 USD. The range represents a good faith estimate of the range that Huron reasonably expects to pay for this job at the time of the job posting. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to specific skills or certifications, years of experience, market changes, and required travel. This job is also eligible to participate in Huron's annual incentive compensation program, which reflects Huron's pay for performance philosophy. Inclusive of annual incentive compensation opportunity, the total estimated compensation range for this job is $134,400 - $171,100 USD. The job is also eligible to participate in Huron's benefit plans which include medical, dental and vision coverage and other wellness programs. The salary range information provided is in accordance with applicable state and local laws regarding salary transparency that are currently in effect and may be implemented in the future.
