Type - Direct Hire

Pay Rate – $101K - $117K Salary (W2 Only)

Summary

The Clinical Informaticist serves as a liaison between clinical operations and IT, collaborating with leadership, staff, and technical teams to design, implement, and continuously improve electronic health record (EHR) systems—primarily Cerner—and related technology initiatives.

This role works closely with physicians, nurses, hospital administration, and IT teams to support clinical workflows, system enhancements, and ongoing optimization. Responsibilities span the full lifecycle of clinical applications, including assessment, design, build, implementation, upgrades, testing, troubleshooting, training, and go-live support.

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.

Minimum Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience supporting clinical applications (including implementation, testing, and ongoing support).
  • At least 1 year of Healthcare Information Technology (HCIT) consulting experience.
  • Strong understanding of clinical workflows.
  • Cerner experience highly preferred.
  • Background as a licensed clinical or healthcare professional is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications & Traits

  • Experience supporting ambulatory clinical workflows (preferred).
  • Ability to provide onsite rounding and end-user support on a weekly basis.
  • Self-starter who proactively identifies opportunities for improvement.
  • Flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills with leadership, providers, and cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to design and optimize clinical workflows across:
    • Providers, Nursing, Front Office, Ancillary Services
    • Lab, Radiology, Pharmacy, Medication Administration, and Orders
  • Drive development of future-state workflows using clinical and technical expertise.
  • Educate clinicians on system functionality and promote effective use of IT solutions.
  • Develop and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for supported facilities.
  • Support implementation and optimization of clinical applications.
  • Provide Tier 1–2 end-user support for clinical systems.
  • Partner with internal teams and vendors to:
    • Implement upgrades and enhancements
    • Conduct testing of new functionality
  • Track project progress, resolve issues, and escalate risks as needed.
  • Analyze applications and recommend improvements for performance and usability.
  • Troubleshoot system issues and collaborate with vendors for resolution.
  • Support and maintain inbound and outbound system interfaces.
  • Analyze operational needs and define system requirements and outputs.
  • Develop and maintain user documentation (e.g., job aids) and deliver training.
  • Maintain and update system procedures and protocols.
  • Participate in enterprise IT committees as a clinical/IT liaison.
  • Partner with leadership to identify subject matter experts (SMEs) for initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
