 Jefferson Community Health & Life is looking for a Chief Executive Officer.

About: Jefferson Community Health & Life (JCH&L) is a not-for-profit health center operated for the residents of Jefferson County, southeastern Nebraska and northeastern Kansas. JCH&L exists to operate and maintain health care services for the residents of the area. It provides quality care and a nurturing environment for patients, staff, and the public. JCH&L provides a 17-bed critical access hospital, a 40-bed long-term care facility, a 12,000 square-foot fitness center, a home health agency, occupational health services, a full range of ancillary services, and a 50-unit assisted living facility. The extensive continuum and mission is supported by a team of 285 employees (200 FTE's).

The Community: Jefferson County is located southwest of Lincoln. Fairbury is the county seat with a population of 3,785. Our community has a variety of business that include a Walmart, local grocery store, drug stores, flower and gift shops, antique stores, new water park, frontier fun park, softball complex, Legion baseball field, banks, spa, chiropractor, eye doctor, dentists, restaurants, bars, coffee shops, dance studio, newspaper, radio and television, furniture store, accountants, hardware store, veterinarians, and more. Residency Requirement: The new CEO will be required to live in the JCH&L service area.

Position Summary:

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) serves as the senior executive leader of Jefferson Community Health & Life (JCH&L) and is responsible for the overall strategic, operational, financial, and clinical performance of the organization. The CEO provides leadership and direction for all organizational activities, ensuring the effective planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of services that support the mission, vision, values, and long-term sustainability of JCH&L.

The CEO works collaboratively with the Board of Directors, medical staff, leadership team, employees, community partners, and other stakeholders to advance organizational goals, ensure regulatory compliance, maintain financial strength, promote quality patient care, and enhance community health outcomes. The CEO is accountable for the administration and management of JCH&L, including strategic planning, organizational performance, resource allocation, workforce development, community relations, and stewardship of organizational assets.

The CEO reports directly to the Board of Directors and serves as the primary liaison between the Board and the organization, ensuring that Board policies, strategic initiatives, and organizational objectives are effectively implemented and achieved.
Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree required; emphasis in Healthcare Administration preferred.
  • Master’s Degree in Hospital Administration, Public Health, Business Administration, Management, or related field preferred.
  • Nursing Home Administrator License preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive senior leadership experience as a Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chief Operating Officer (COO), Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), or similar executive leadership role, including experience working collaboratively with physicians and provider groups.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of healthcare CEO/Administrator experience highly preferred.
  • Previous healthcare experience required, preferably within a rural healthcare or Critical Access Hospital environment.
