Job description

Enterprise & Carrier Account Executive

Planet Networks  |  Newton, NJ  |  Full-time  |  Hybrid  |  Sales & Marketing

About Planet Networks

Planet Networks owns and operates its own fiber optic network across New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania, delivering high-performance Internet, Dedicated Internet Access (DIA), Ethernet, Dark Fiber, Wavelength (WDM), Hosted Voice, Colocation, Managed Network Services, and fiber backhaul to businesses, municipalities, healthcare organizations, educational institutions, wireless carriers, and residential customers.

We are a well-capitalized technology company of more than 140 people building one of the region's fastest-growing fiber networks. We value integrity, innovation, accountability, and collaboration — and we are looking for driven sales professionals who want their work to show up on the map.

The Opportunity

This is a hunting role backed by a network we control. Because we own the fiber, you are not reselling someone else's circuits or waiting on a third party to quote — you work directly with our engineering team to design the solution and you sell into a footprint we are actively expanding.

Two revenue streams sit with this role: enterprise and public-sector accounts across our territory, and fiber backhaul and transport for wireless carriers, tower operators, and infrastructure providers. You will own the full cycle — prospecting, discovery, proposal, negotiation, close, and the long-term account relationship that follows.

What You'll Do

Build the territory

  • Develop and execute strategic account plans for your assigned territory and target accounts.
  • Prospect enterprise and public-sector organizations through networking, referrals, cold outreach, and business development activity.
  • Build relationships with C-level executives, IT leadership, facilities managers, procurement teams, commercial property owners, and decision-makers across municipalities, healthcare, and education.
  • Represent Planet Networks at trade shows, industry conferences, networking events, and local business organizations.

Grow the wireless and carrier business

  • Develop opportunities with wireless carriers, tower operators, and infrastructure providers for fiber backhaul and transport services.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to connect new and existing cellular tower sites to Planet Networks' fiber infrastructure.
  • Build relationships with RF engineers, network planners, site acquisition teams, construction managers, and carrier representatives.

Sell consultatively

  • Run discovery meetings that surface real business objectives, not just bandwidth requirements.
  • Partner with Engineering, Operations, and Customer Success to design and deliver customized network solutions.
  • Develop and present proposals across the full portfolio: DIA, Ethernet Transport, Dark Fiber, Wavelength (WDM), Hosted Voice, Colocation, Managed Network Services, and fiber backhaul.
  • Respond to RFPs, RFIs, and other procurement opportunities.
  • Manage the complete sales cycle through proposal development, contract negotiation, and close.
  • Keep opportunity, pipeline, forecast, and account information accurate and current in the CRM.
  • Meet or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales objectives.

What You Bring

Required

  • 5+ years of successful B2B sales experience in telecommunications, fiber optics, networking, managed services, or IT solutions.
  • A track record of developing and closing enterprise sales opportunities.
  • Experience selling fiber optic connectivity, Ethernet, Dedicated Internet Access (DIA), Dark Fiber, Wavelength (WDM), Hosted Voice, or carrier services.
  • Strong consultative selling, presentation, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with CRM platforms (HubSpot preferred) and Microsoft Office.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to travel throughout Planet Networks' service territory.

Preferred

  • Knowledge of cellular tower infrastructure, wireless carrier backhaul, and transport services.
  • Experience selling to enterprise organizations, municipalities, healthcare providers, educational institutions, commercial real estate, wireless carriers, or tower operators.
  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent industry experience.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary of $90,000 to $120,000 per year
  • Uncapped commission structure
  • Monthly performance incentives
  • On-target earnings (OTE) of approximately $150,000+ annually, with top performers earning significantly more
  • Equity compensation
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Life insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid holidays and paid time off (PTO)
