Job description

The Biosciences Division at SRI International has an opening for a Research Associate I in the Center for Macromolecular Bioscience in Harrisonburg, VA. We seek motivated scientists with backgrounds in biotechnology, chemical biology, molecular and cellular biology or related fields. The candidate should be driven to contribute intellectually within a team environment.

This position will work onsite at our Harrisonburg, VA office


  • Perform laboratory experiments as directed by senior scientists.
  • Collaborate with scientists from other disciplines (e.g., chemistry, molecular biology, cancer biology, neuroscience and immunology) in cross-divisional teams.
  • Keep a detailed laboratory notebook and present their progress to the group.
  • Complete necessary training classes and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Learn and abide by SRI’s intellectual property guidelines.

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, or similar discipline.
  • Experience with mammalian tissue culture, PCR, and/or animal handling is a plus but not required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

The salary range is: $44,464-$58,912. Salary ranges will vary and are based on several factors, including geographic location, market competitiveness and equity amongst internal employees in similar roles. Positions may also qualify for SRI's Pay for Outstanding Performance program or the annual Performance Based Compensation program.
