Job description

Koniag Management Solutions, LLC (KMS), a Koniag Government Services (KGS) company, is hiring a Cellular / RF Engineer.  Position requires an active Top Secret/SCI clearance with ability to obtain additional security requirements.  Please do not apply if you do not possess the required Top-Secret Clearance.

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Cellular / RF Engineer to support enterpriselevel wireless connectivity initiatives, with a focus on cellular (4G/5G) and other RF technologies. The ideal candidate will possess strong skills in RF analysis, propagation modeling, in-building coverage design, and the integration of cellular and fixed wireless systems. This role includes assessing coverage challenges, conducting site surveys, measuring signal performance, and producing engineering solutions that enhance reliability and missioncritical communications. The selected candidate will support operations at Joint Base Anacostia–Bolling and must maintain an active TS/SCI clearance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess, design, and optimize enterprise wireless connectivity solutions using cellular (4G/5G) and RF technologies.
  • Conduct predictive and on-site RF surveys, including signal strength measurements, spectrum analysis, and coverage assessments.
  • Develop RF engineering solutions to improve in-building and campuswide cellular performance.
  • Engineer and validate Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS), small cells, and other in-building wireless enhancements.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot RF interference, signal degradation, and propagation challenges.
  • Produce RF design documents, heat maps, engineering diagrams, and technical reports.
  • Coordinate with OEMs, carriers, integrators, and infrastructure teams to support deployment of cellular and RF solutions.
  • Apply expertise in LTE and 5G frequency bands, including FirstNet (Band 14), Band 12, and Next Generation Fixed Wireless Access (ngFWA).
  • Support RF safety, compliance, and regulatory requirements as applicable.
  • Participate in enterprise telecommunications planning and modernization efforts.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance.
  • 7+ years of experience as an RF engineer with direct experience in cellular technologies.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • SS7 signaling protocols
    • LTE Frequency Band 12
    • LTE Band 14 (FirstNet)
    • Next Generation Fixed Wireless Access (ngFWA)
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (EE) or a related technical field strongly preferred.
  • Required certifications (one or more):
    • Vendor/OEM certification aligned to cellular or RF network gear
    • FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL), where applicable
    • Senior vendor design certification
    • Formal RF design credentials such as iBwave (if applicable)

Preferred Certifications (Plus):

  • iBwave (especially for DAS or in-building design)
  • Safety/compliance training (RF safety, OSHA, etc.)
  • Enterprise telecommunications architecture training or certifications
  • Engineering governance or program-level credentials

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Hands-on experience with DAS, small cells, 4G/5G system integration, and RF propagation modeling.
  • Experience working with carriers, OEMs, and integrators to deploy cellular infrastructure.
  • RF design tools such as iBwave, Ekahau, Anritsu, TEMS, or similar.
  • Cellular call flow analysis, backhaul integration, and multi-band optimization.
  • Support of RF systems within DoD or IC environments.
