Job description

Cellular Solutions Engineer

If you’ve built and designed real-world cellular networks and enjoy solving problems others haven’t figured out yet, this is a chance to shape how an established industry leader with over 20 years of expertise delivers private cellular alongside its core wireless practice.

At Velaspan, our Cellular Solutions Engineer role combines hands-on engineering with responsibility for guiding and supporting others.  This hybrid role in Allentown, PA exists at a pivotal moment: we’re expanding our private and commercial cellular capabilities within our established practice and need a senior level engineer who can own design, modeling, and delivery while building repeatable processes the business can grow on.

If you’re excited about building and shaping cellular capabilities in a hands-on, impactful role, we’d love to connect!

What You’ll Do
You’ll be the cellular subject matter expert, owning design and delivery while enabling the broader engineering team. This role is primarily design and delivery-focused, with limited travel compared to traditional field-based cellular roles. Specifically, you will:

  • Lead the design and modeling of private cellular and in-building wireless systems, using iBwave and other tools to produce accurate predictive coverage and performance outputs
  • Build and standardize technical documentation and deliverables, eliminating single points of failure and creating repeatable, scalable processes
  • Own predictive modeling and coverage planning, shaping how projects are designed before deployment begins
  • Guide and upskill a Wi-Fi-focused engineering team, helping expand their capabilities into cellular through hands-on collaboration
  • Drive system configuration and turn-up, ensuring networks are deployed correctly and perform as designed in real-world environments
  • Support technical scoping and solution design, contributing to how projects are defined and delivered
  • Ensure strong integration with enterprise IT environments, bridging cellular networks with routing, switching, and broader infrastructure

What You Need to Thrive in This Role
We’re looking for a senior-level engineer who can own design and execution.  Ideally you bring:

  • A background in cellular network design and operations
  • Hands-on experience designing and deploying private LTE, CBRS, or similar cellular networks
  • Strong proficiency in iBwave or comparable RF design and modeling tools – ideally with real project ownership
  • Comfort working across the full lifecycle – modeling, configuration, system turn-up, and troubleshooting
  • Experience with network integration, including exposure to routing, switching, and enterprise IT environments
  • Familiarity with DAS design or in-building wireless systems
  • Ability to translate technical expertise into clear documentation and repeatable processes
  • A mindset that balances deep technical ownership with collaboration, especially in supporting and guiding other engineers
  • Curiosity and openness to challenge assumptions – we value people who can identify what needs to improve

You don’t need to be a business development lead – but you should be comfortable contributing to technical conversations that shape client solutions.

About us
Velaspan, Inc. is a computer systems consulting firm specializing in wireless communications and cybersecurity solutions for businesses across a wide range of industries. Based in Allentown, PA, we help organizations design, deploy, and support critical technology solutions.

What We Offer You
You’ll be part of a team known for deep technical expertise and a practical, client-focused approach to wireless engineering.  We offer a great package including:

  • Competitive salary range based on experience and role alignment
  • Health benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • 401(k) with company match to support your long-term financial goals
  • Paid time off with a generous holiday schedule to recharge
  • A collaborative environment where you can influence how work gets done
