Job description

Welcome to Grayson College. Adjunct Music Instructor- Cello

Role:
Teaches Cello lessons and provides assistance and academic advising to Cello students outside of class. Teach other music courses as available.
Music lessons (MUAP) pay $50/hour.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
  •  55% Teaches private Cello lessons as assigned by departmental chair.
  • 10% Uses appropriate technology for lesson communication.
  • 10% Stays current in both the professional field and current teaching/learning best practices.
  • 10% Works as a team member in the Fine Arts Department.
  • 10% Contributes to department assessment process by measuring and reporting student learning outcomes as directed to meet THECB Core Objectives and SACSCOC requirements.
  • 5% Complies with the faculty responsibilities as related in the Faculty Handbook and the Board Policy and Procedures Manual.
Performance Measurements:
  1. Demonstrates the Viking Values of balance, clarity, gratitude, service, teamwork, and trust.
  2. Complies with all federal and state laws and regulations relating to higher education.
  3. Ensures effective student services and high-quality customer service are provided.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • The position requires a Master's degree or higher in music from an accredited college or university.
  • Must be able to meet face-to-face lessons on the Denison, TX campus during our sixteen-week term.
  • Must have one to two years of related experience.
  • Must have previous successful experience teaching voice in a high school, university and/or community college, and demonstrated ability to engage students in the learning process.
  • A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact.
  • Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or can be of a personal or sensitive nature.
  • Work may involve motivating or influencing others.
