Job description

Position Overview:

The Tower Technician is responsible for all tower related functions in the Tower Construction department. The Tower Technician is responsible for all tower related functions at multiple sites/field operations including tower builds, tower deconstructs, technical testing of antennas, installation of tower components, hanging of antennas and dishes on towers, installation of lines or other cellular components, site build outs, and grounding tower and buildings. In order to complete these operations, qualified individuals must be capable of climbing towers or other structures. Tower Technicians are teamed with another Tower Technician when traveling and climbing.


Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Plan schedule (crew schedule, customer contact, site access, contact subcontractor, inform supervisor, order parts)
  • Climb various types of telecommunication towers to install antennas, dishes, cables, and stand-offs on towers.
  • Build and deconstruct towers.
  • Dig trenches for grounding tower and building to R56 standards, driving ground rods and cad welding
  • Open and able to travel +/- 75% of the time may be necessary


Education and/or Experience:

  • General laborer
  • Carpenter/ framer
  • Concrete form setter/general concrete worker
  • Hand tool/power tool experience
  • Equipment operator- excavator, Dozer, skid steer, etc
  • Climbing certification is not required nor is climbing experience
  • Willingness to climb and no fear of heights is required
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); plus a minimum of 1 to 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience


Licenses, Certifications:

  • A valid Driver’s License is preferred
  • Authorized Climber & Competent Climber/Rescue certification is a plus
  • OSHA Construction 10 HR Safety Training program, or possess an OSHA 10-Hour Safety Card, as well as First Aid and CPR certification would be a plus
  • CDL would be a plus
