Job description

Our Ohio team has multiple openings for experienced tower climbers and top hands at its shop in Mount Vernon, Ohio.
Overview
As a tower technician, you will work as part of a climbing crew performing tower operations, sweep testing, tower maintenance and installation, coaxial and antenna installation and required RF testing, and other similar tasks in accordance with OSHA safety guidelines. As a tower technician, you will work at heights up to 500 feet, performing manual labor in outdoor environments.
What We Need from You
To thrive in this role, you must be able to travel Monday through Friday, with some overnight and weekend work required. Frequent overtime should be expected. Experience in the telecommunications industry, coupled with the following skills, is also desired:
  • Demonstrated ability to tie basic knots
  • Demonstrated understanding of safe/proper rigging procedures, working load limits, weatherproofing, tower precon, and cathead knowledge
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings and Radio Frequency Data Sheets
  • Familiarity with basic hand tools; ability to manipulate equipment and instruments with precision
  • Ability to accurately use a tape measure
  • Ability to use a compass and understand declination
  • Knowledge of rigging and mounting procedures for all antennas and equipment
  • Knowledge of different carriers, color codes, and routing guidelines
  • Demonstrated understanding of crane signals and ability to demonstrate whoops
  • Ability to troubleshoot tower top issues
  • Ability to perform tower top fiber testing, PIM testing, and sweep test/load hopping test procedures
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds, bending, twisting, and contorting your body for extended periods
  • Ability to pass required pre-employment processes, including background check and drug screen
  • Construction experience is a plus

  • ComTrain certification
  • OSHA 10 certification
  • RF Awareness certification
  • First Aid/CPR training/certification
  • Competent Climber certification
