Experienced Tower Climber (Top Hand)

Minimum 3 Years of Tower Climbing Experience Required

Augusta Tower Technologies is expanding our Midwest operations and looking to add multiple experienced Tower Climbers (Top Hands) to our growing team. Candidates should have a strong background in tower maintenance and construction.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot wireless telecommunications equipment on towers.
  • Perform work safely at extreme heights and in varying weather conditions.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and mechanical equipment safely and effectively.
  • Diagnose and resolve telecommunications system issues quickly and efficiently.
  • Troubleshoot technical problems in the field, even in challenging conditions.
  • Follow and strictly adhere to all safety procedures and site-specific regulations.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and on-the-job training to junior tower technicians.
  • Support project crews and maintain high-quality installation standards.
  • Travel extensively throughout Michigan as required for project assignments.

Work Environment

This position involves climbing telecommunications towers exceeding 300 feet and performing work in varied outdoor weather conditions while supporting wireless infrastructure projects throughout the Midwest.

  • Candidates must be physically capable of lifting and carrying 70+ lbs of equipment, working at height for extended periods, and maintaining strict compliance with OSHA regulations and site-specific safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Telecommunications experience with proven tower climbing experience is required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in tower climbing or telecommunications construction.
  • NWSA TTT-1 certification preferred; certification is required within the first 90 days of employment (company covers certification costs).
  • Proficient in rigging, tower erection, and antenna installation.
  • Strong understanding of RF systems, fiber optics, and telecommunications infrastructure.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, construction prints, and schematics.
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic, reliability, and physical stamina required for demanding field work.
  • Comfortable working at heights exceeding 300 feet while lifting and carrying 70+ lbs of equipment.
  • Strong commitment to OSHA compliance, job-site safety standards, and a safety-first mindset.
  • Familiarity with telecommunications industry regulations and safety practices.
  • CPR, First Aid, RF, BBP and OSHA 10/30 certifications preferred but not required. (company covers renewal costs).
  • Comfortable working in a high-performance, team-oriented environment.
  • Able to work independently while maintaining coordination with the crew and project team.
