What is a celebrity producer?

A Celebrity Producer is a media professional responsible for booking, coordinating, and managing celebrity appearances on television shows, events, or digital content. They work closely with talent agents, publicists, and production teams to ensure that celebrity guests are secured and their needs are met. Celebrity Producers also handle logistics such as scheduling, contracts, and on-set requirements, playing a crucial role in delivering high-profile content that attracts audiences. Their job often requires strong networking skills, discretion, and the ability to work in fast-paced environments.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a celebrity producer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Celebrity Producer, you need a background in media production, strong industry connections, and expertise in talent management, often supported by a degree in communications, film, or a related field. Familiarity with production scheduling software, digital editing tools, and contract management systems is typically required. Outstanding communication, negotiation skills, and discretion are vital soft skills that help build trust and manage high-profile personalities. A Celebrity Producer often acts as the primary liaison between production teams and celebrity representatives, such as agents or publicists. This involves negotiating schedules, discussing project details, and ensuring all contractual and promotional requirements are met. Maintaining clear communication and building strong professional relationships is key, as it helps navigate the unique demands and last-minute changes common in celebrity bookings. Successful producers are diplomatic, detail-oriented, and adept at problem-solving under tight deadlines.

Join Hearst Magazines' Central Video team and help bring some of the world's most iconic media brands to life through compelling, platform-first content that reaches millions of viewers every day. • Produce and direct high-quality video shoots in studio and on location, working with talent ranging from emerging creators to A-list celebrities.
  • Develop creative pre-production materials that capture timely, buzzworthy, and culturally relevant moments tailored to individual talent.
  • Lead productions from call time through wrap, ensuring seamless coordination between talent, crew, editorial teams, and brand stakeholders.
  • Partner with multiple Hearst Magazine brands-including Cosmopolitan, Delish, Esquire, ELLE, Harper's BAZAAR, and Good Housekeeping-to create engaging video content aligned with each brand's unique voice and audience.
  • Identify and produce compelling social-first clips from longform content for platforms including YouTube Shorts, TikTok, Instagram Reels, and other emerging channels.
  • Manage production logistics, including crew coordination, transportation, releases, scheduling, media delivery, and on-set operations while maintaining budgets and timelines.
  • Collaborate closely with editors, post-production, graphics, and production teams to deliver polished content that meets editorial, creative, and publishing objectives under tight deadlines.
  • Monitor video performance and leverage audience insights, platform trends, and analytics to inform future creative strategy and storytelling.

Qualifications (What We're Looking For)

  • 3+ years of experience in video production, preferably in fast-paced editorial, digital media, entertainment, or similar environments.
  • Demonstrated experience producing and directing both longform and short-form video content across platforms such as YouTube, YouTube Shorts, TikTok, Instagram Reels, and other social channels.
  • Experience directing celebrity or high-profile talent with confidence and professionalism.
  • Strong editorial instincts with a keen eye for visual storytelling, pacing, framing, and audience engagement.
  • Deep knowledge of pop culture, emerging digital trends, and social video best practices.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, shifting priorities, and tight deadlines simultaneously.
  • Collaborative, adaptable, and resourceful with outstanding communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience with Adobe Premiere is a plus.
  • Experience in editorial video production is preferred.
  • Hybrid role based in New York City with an expectation of working in the office four days per week, plus on-set production as needed. Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends is required.

Benefits (What We Offer)

The base salary range for this role is $71,400-$75,000. This position is not eligible for bonus or commission compensation. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, qualifications, and location.
