Job description

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Journeyman Electrician / General Maintenance Technician to support facility operations and maintenance services at the Air & Marine Operations Center (AMOC) located at March Air Reserve Base in Riverside, CA. The AMOC is a 24/7 mission-critical federal facility supporting U.S. Customs and Border Protection air surveillance and national security operations.

This role is responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting commercial electrical systems, emergency backup power systems, UPS infrastructure, lighting systems, and facility support equipment across multiple operational buildings. In addition to electrical responsibilities, this position will also support general facility maintenance activities including minor plumbing, carpentry, painting, door hardware adjustments, ceiling tile replacement, and other building maintenance tasks necessary to support daily operations.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on, multi-trade technician who is comfortable working in a fast-paced operational environment where responsiveness, professionalism, and reliability are critical.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues from the main switchboard through downstream distribution systems.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on:
    • Commercial electrical systems
    • Lighting systems and controls
    • Emergency diesel generator systems
    • UPS systems and backup power equipment
    • Electrical panels, breakers, relays, and disconnects
  • Install and modify electrical circuits, conduit, and associated wiring systems.
  • Perform load calculations and evaluate circuit capacities.
  • Support HVAC technicians with electrical troubleshooting associated with mechanical equipment.
  • Maintain operational continuity for mission-critical systems supporting 24/7 AMOC operations.

General Maintenance Support

  • Perform general building maintenance and repair activities throughout the facility.
  • Support minor repairs involving:
    • Plumbing fixtures
    • Doors and hardware
    • Drywall and painting
    • Ceiling systems
    • Lighting replacement
    • Basic carpentry
  • Assist with preventive maintenance activities and facility inspections.
  • Escort and coordinate with outside vendors and specialty contractors when required.
  • Support facility setup, equipment relocation, and operational maintenance needs.

Facility Operations Support

  • Conduct routine inspections of facility electrical infrastructure and building systems.
  • Respond to emergency service calls and facility safety concerns.
  • Assist with facility maintenance projects and limited renovation work.

  • Maintain and update electrical drawings and system documentation.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5-7 years of commercial or industrial electrical maintenance experience.
  • Journeyman-level electrical experience in commercial facilities.

Compensation & Benefits

Base Wage

  • $35.56/hour base wageunder the applicable Service Contract Act (SCA) Wage Determination for Maintenance Electrician.

Health & Welfare Benefits

  • Health & Welfare fringe benefits provided to employees working on this SCA contract are $5.09/hour to use toward the costs of medical insurance, dental, vision, short-term disability, life and AD&D insurance, and 401k. The SCA hourly fringe benefit rate may be subject to change, based on any updates to the SCA contract/wage determination with the Federal Government.
