Job description

Job Title: CEI Inspector
***Work Location: Atlanta, GA ***
Salary: Based on experience and will be discussed with manager in interview
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Monitor the contractor’s on-site construction activities, performing inspections, and conducting field material sampling and testing to ensure conformance to project plans and specifications
  • Conduct a wide variety of materials testing, construction inspections and monitoring of traffic controls.
  • Perform field sampling and testing of soil density, concrete, asphalt and other construction materials
  • Perform routine field tests in accordance with ASTM, ACI, AASHTO, GDOT or other standards
  • Ensure quality assurance is maintained.
  • Inspect contractor’s traffic control during transportation construction project.
  • Meets scheduling and attendance requirements.
  • Understands and interprets schematic drawings to locate and record where sampling/testing was obtained.
  • Understand and interprets construction documents and specification prepared in accordance with GDOT standards.
Education/Experience:
  • High School Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of related work experience in CEI, field inspections, materials testing, and traffic inspections.
  • Experience in interstate transportation projects in urban areas.
  • Understanding and familiarity with MUTCD and GDOT Design Guidelines and Standards preferred.
  • Familiar with traffic control plans including but not limited to traffic shifts, detours, lane closures or other activities that disrupt traffic flow.
  • Knowledge of the properties, characteristics, strengths, and weaknesses of the materials used in construction.
  • ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician I, GDOT Concrete Certification preferred, Portable Nuclear Gauge user certification, RTT certification preferred
  • Experience with concrete and pavement testing.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable
Physical Requirements:
  • Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments
  • Ability to carry required instruments and equipment
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • The worker is subject to variable climate and environmental conditions including but not limited to extreme cold and heat.
