Our Organization
The Community Economic Defense Project (CEDP) is a Colorado-based nonprofit. Launched in 2020 as the COVID-19 Eviction Defense Project, our organization was formed to keep our neighbors housed during the pandemic. Working with clients, we built a deeply integrative approach to eviction, foreclosure, and homelessness prevention that centers the legal and financial needs of housing-insecure families and uses a variety of tools to keep them housed.
Our team now serves more than 1,000 people per month, bringing together housing lawyers, economists, data analysts, policy-experts, organizers, and technologists to serve our clients. We have served more than 68,000 low-income Coloradans across 54 counties, distributing more than $280 million in emergency assistance. We have also contributed to the passage of major legislation to prevent eviction, stop economic abuse, and make credit and life-saving medication cheaper. CEDP's model has been cited as a best practice by the White House and HUD in 2022-2023, think tanks like the Urban Institute, and in the media.
Building on our work to stop evictions, CEDP has further expanded its integrated services model to include disaster response, predatory towing, debt collection, benefit access & navigation, long-term rental assistance, and homelessness response. Similar to CEDP's work on rental housing, these efforts offer a continuum of care that includes navigation and advisory services, targeted payments, legal support, and the ability to participate in advocacy.
More about the Temporary Front Desk Coordinator position:
We are seeking a Temporary Front Desk Coordinator to join our Denver office. This position serves as the first point of contact for clients accessing CEDP services and plays an essential role in creating a welcoming, safe, and trauma-informed experience for everyone who enters our office.
This is an in-person, client-facing position with approximately 70% of the role focused on direct client interaction and about 30% focused on front office operations and administrative support. The Front Desk Coordinator typically supports 30-40 clients per day, with certain events experiencing higher volume, 80-100 clients per day.
Clients come to CEDP from a wide range of backgrounds and lived experiences and may be navigating significant stress, crisis, or trauma. The Front Desk Coordinator approaches each person with empathy and respect while also maintaining appropriate boundaries, following safety protocols, and applying de-escalation intervention for challenging situations.
Experience working directly with communities that have experienced barriers to legal, social, healthcare, or other services is highly valued. Bilingual English/Spanish skills and/or relevant lived experience are strongly preferred.
In this role you will:

• Serve as the first point of contact for clients, visitors, and community members entering the office
• Warmly greet clients and visitors and help create a welcoming, respectful, and trauma-informed environment.
• Manage the video doorbell/intercom system and monitor front desk and lobby activity
• Conduct and accurately document in-person client intakes using tools such as the Denver Office Tracker, sign-in sheets, HubSpot, and other internal systems
• Provide estimated wait times and assist with connecting clients to appropriate staff
• Use Slack and email for shift handoffs, updates, and internal communication
• Stay informed on CEDP services to support accurate client referrals
• Coordinate check disbursements following internal protocols
• Use trauma-informed communication, active listening, boundary-setting, and de-escalation techniques to support clients while maintaining a safe environment
• Recognize situations that require additional support and appropriately escalate concerns to supervisors, safety personnel, or other CEDP staff

Position Requirements:

• 2-3 years of direct client-facing experience in a setting such as social work, case management, behavioral health, healthcare/hospital, community services, customer service, front desk/reception, or a related field
• Ability to work in-person in CEDP's Denver office Monday through Friday, 8:30am-5:30pm
• Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (verbal) - preferred
• Demonstrated ability to interact respectfully and effectively with people from a wide range of backgrounds, identities, and lived experiences
• Demonstrated ability to apply trauma-informed and de-escalation principles when interacting with clients who may be experiencing emotional distress, crisis, trauma, or other challenging circumstances
• Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across departments and contribute to a team-oriented work environment
• Fantastic organizational skills and ability to self-manage and prioritize a complex workload with rapidly changing demands
• Demonstrated proficiency working with Customer Relationship Management databases or similar tracking and organizing technologies
• High emotional intelligence and professionalism with a strong commitment to equity, inclusion, and public service
• Coordinators are expected to arrive on time, follow safety protocols, and maintain a welcoming, organized office space
• A self-starter, with proven ability to identify, propose, and implement process improvements
• Ability to develop, implement, and manage office standards and policies
• Familiarity with Excel, Word, Google Suite, slack and experience with CRM systems like HubSpot

Additional Details:

• This is a part-time (approximately 28 hours per week), temporary position with an anticipated end date of December 31st, 2026
• Candidates must reside in Colorado, ideally within the greater Denver Metro area
• An hourly rate of $30.46, plus a $1,000 per year in-person pay differential
• Employees who utilize two languages or more at work are eligible for a $2,000 differential per year added to their pay listed above. Language assessment will be conducted by the organization as a requirement to receive the differential
• All employees are eligible for a technology stipend of $720 per year

• As in-person work is required, all employees at CEDP & CED Law are expected to maintain current vaccination status in keeping with CDC recommendations.
