Job description

The primary focus of the Chemist II is to independently perform pharmaceutical analyses in the laboratory using analytical instrumentation and compendial methods and procedures.
The opportunity:
Sample Testing
  • Perform lab experiments and record data in laboratory notebooks with accuracy and completeness
  • Calculate results as required in compendial methods and procedures.
  • Responsible for meeting due dates for the following testing:
    • Perform instrumentation testing for routine and stability samples
      • HPLC assay, organic impurities, related compounds, etc.
      • GC residual solvents, assay, limit test, etc.
    • Perform identification testing for routine samples
      • FTIR, UV-Vis, USP <191> color/precipitate test, etc.
    • Perform titration testing for routine samples
      • Color indicator, potentiometric, etc.
    • Perform wet bench testing for routine and stability samples
      • Residue on ignition, loss on drying, water determination, etc.
  • Participate in laboratory investigations.

Inventory Login & Upkeep
  • Maintain laboratory inventory of chemicals and supplies
    • Check stock levels and request commonly used chemicals as needed
  • Remove and update inventory for expired chemicals
  • Periodic inventory of chemicals and supplies on hand

Laboratory Upkeep
  • Maintain organized and tidy laboratory areas and workspaces
  • Clean and store glassware regularly
  • Calibrate and perform verification checks on routine use equipment, i.e. analytical balances

Compliance to FDA regulations and CED SOPs
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • B.Sc. in Chemistry or a Science related field, with knowledge of common laboratory techniques
  • Minimum of three (3) years of laboratory experience performing analytical testing preferred
    HPLC experience required
  • Working knowledge of cGMP/GLP, ICH, USP/NF, FDA regulations
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Outlook and Excel) required
  • Excellent communication skills; fluent English (oral & written) required
  • Strong work ethic and reliable
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
