Engineering Supervisor (EPU), Central Design - Plant Hatch
Southern Nuclear Company's Central Design Organization is seeking a high-performing Supervisor with strong collaborative and leadership skills. These positions will be located at Southern Nuclear Company's Plant Vogtle in Waynesboro, Georgia and Plant Hatch in Baxley, Georgia.
SUMMARY:
The Engineering Supervisor (EPU) reports to the Fleet Central Design EPU Manager for overall management and providing technical direction for design changes associated with Extended Power Uprate projects at their respective site. This position also requires a strong working interface with the Fleet Extended Power Uprate Project team.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Provide technical direction and management of design products generated in support of Extended Power Uprate projects at their respective site
  • Supervising assigned personnel, including training, development, and performance management
  • Ensuring proper implementation of corporate, plant, and department policies/procedures
  • Ensure changes to plant design are of high quality, technically adequate and are carried out in accordance with design requirements
  • Ensure appropriate design interface controls are in place between organizations performing engineering work affecting plant design
  • Interfaces with the Fleet Central Design Senior Manager, Site CDO Manager and Site Design organization to ensure modifications are consistent with the design basis
  • Ensure design review meetings are held with appropriate plant participation and challenge for proposed designs
  • Ensure design modifications are developed in accordance with quality, schedule, and budgetary requirements
  • Ensure design basis documentation is maintained up-to-date and accurate
  • Coordinate design input and support from corporate specialty areas (e.g., Stress, Fire Protection, Environmental Qualification) as needed
  • Promote fleet common design processes and implementation
  • Manage financial performance to meet budgetary requirements
  • Occasional travel required, including travel to other nuclear plants

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
  • BS in Engineering from an ABET accredited university
  • An advanced degree and/or a PE license is preferred

Job Experience:
  • 8 years experience in nuclear power is required
  • Previous supervisory experience is preferred
  • Previous design experience is preferred
  • Thorough understanding of nuclear plant processes and systems required

Behavioral Attributes:
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to hold self and others accountable to established policies and procedures
  • A high degree of management and teamwork skills are required to effectively provide leadership to engineers and to maintain schedules and priorities for assigned work
  • Must be forward looking, able to anticipate challenges and apply a fleet-level perspective

Location:
  • Must have permanent residency, or be able to relocate, within an hour reporting distance from Plant Hatch.
