Cdn Engineer information

What is a CDN engineer?

CDN Engineers are IT professionals who design, implement, and manage Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) to optimize the delivery of digital content such as websites, videos, and applications. They ensure fast, reliable, and secure content delivery to users by strategically distributing servers across different locations. CDN Engineers also handle performance tuning, troubleshooting, and security measures to minimize latency and downtime. Their role is crucial for businesses that serve content to a global audience and require high availability and scalability.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a CDN engineer?

To thrive as a CDN Engineer, you need expertise in network protocols, web security, content delivery concepts, and a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with CDN platforms (like Akamai, Cloudflare, or AWS CloudFront), scripting languages, and monitoring tools is typically required. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help in optimizing performance and collaborating across teams. These skills are essential for ensuring fast, secure, and reliable delivery of digital content to users worldwide.

What are some common challenges faced by CDN engineers in ensuring optimal content delivery performance?

CDN Engineers often encounter challenges such as balancing latency, load distribution, and security while managing a globally distributed network. They must proactively monitor for outages, optimize caching strategies, and troubleshoot issues related to content propagation and edge server performance. Additionally, staying updated with the latest CDN technologies and collaborating with developers, DevOps, and security teams is essential to address evolving demands and maintain high availability for end-users.

What is the difference between Cdn Engineer vs Network Engineer?

AspectCdn EngineerNetwork Engineer
CredentialsTypically requires a degree in computer science or IT, with certifications like CCNA or CCNPUsually holds a degree in networking, computer engineering, or related fields, with similar certifications
Work EnvironmentFocuses on content delivery networks, cloud infrastructure, and web performanceWorks on enterprise or service provider networks, including routing, switching, and security
Industry UsageCommon in web services, cloud providers, and content delivery companiesWidely used in telecommunications, ISPs, and large organizations

While both roles involve networking skills, a Cdn Engineer specializes in optimizing content delivery and web infrastructure, whereas a Network Engineer manages broader network systems and connectivity. The roles often overlap but serve different core functions within IT and networking environments.

We enable digital businesses to scale with high performance and reliability by providing connectivity, IP Transit, private networks, data centers, bare metal, GPU infrastructure, and cloud solutions to ISPs, hyperscalers, content providers, AI companies, and global technology organizations. Through our own infrastructure platform and strategic interconnection with major global hubs, we deliver low latency, security, scalability, and operational resilience across the Americas and beyond.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Managing Director, EdgeUno Compute, to lead and scale our GPU, bare metal, and cloud infrastructure business across Latin America and the Americas. This role combines executive leadership, operational discipline, commercial strategy, and infrastructure expertise to drive the next phase of growth for EdgeUno Compute.

The ideal candidate should be a highly execution-oriented infrastructure leader with deep experience operating cloud, compute, data center, or AI infrastructure businesses at scale. This person should understand the operational realities of high-performance infrastructure environments, including uptime, automation, cost optimization, capacity planning, reliability, and long-term scalability.

This role requires a strong builder mentality, combining strategic thinking with hands‑on execution, cross-functional leadership, and the ability to move quickly in a fast-growing and highly competitive market.

Core Responsibilities Business Leadership & Growth
  • Own full P&L responsibility for EdgeUno Compute across all operational regions.
  • Lead the strategic growth and expansion of EdgeUno’s GPU, bare metal, and cloud infrastructure business.
  • Define and execute business strategies focused on long-term scalability, operational efficiency, and revenue growth.
  • Identify market opportunities, strategic partnerships, and expansion initiatives across AI, hyperscaler, enterprise, CDN, and cloud ecosystems.
Operational Excellence & Infrastructure Strategy
  • Oversee infrastructure operations with strong focus on uptime, SLA adherence, platform reliability, automation, and security.
  • Lead capacity planning initiatives, infrastructure scaling strategies, and long-term compute resource allocation.
  • Drive cost optimization initiatives across infrastructure, vendors, operations, and platform management.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and product teams to ensure technical execution aligns with business objectives.
Commercial & Market Development
  • Partner closely with sales leadership to accelerate adoption of EdgeUno Compute solutions across strategic customers and markets.
  • Support enterprise, AI/ML, hyperscaler, CDN, and cloud customer engagement initiatives.
  • Participate in strategic customer discussions, commercial negotiations, and executive-level relationship management.
  • Represent EdgeUno Compute at industry events, strategic forums, investor discussions, and executive meetings.
Leadership & Organizational Development
  • Build, lead, and scale high‑performing technical and cross‑functional teams across multiple countries.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, operational discipline, and execution excellence.
  • Support alignment between business, technical, operational, and commercial teams across the organization.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of leadership experience within cloud, compute, data center, infrastructure, telecommunications, or related technology environments.
  • Strong understanding of GPU cloud environments, bare metal infrastructure, virtualization, edge computing, and large‑scale infrastructure operations.
  • Proven experience managing or scaling a business unit with full P&L ownership and operational accountability.
  • Experience leading technical and cross‑functional teams across distributed or international environments.
  • Strong operational mindset with experience in infrastructure reliability, automation, scalability, and cost management.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and executive leadership skills.
  • Fluent English required.
Nice to Have
  • Spanish or Portuguese proficiency.
  • Existing network within AI, hyperscaler, cloud, telecommunications, CDN, or infrastructure ecosystems.
  • Experience scaling AI infrastructure, GPU clusters, or next‑generation compute platforms.
  • Experience operating in high‑growth or fast‑scaling infrastructure companies.
What We Offer
  • Opportunity to lead and scale one of the region’s fastest‑growing compute and infrastructure platforms.
  • Exposure to large‑scale AI, cloud, GPU, and digital infrastructure initiatives across the Americas.
  • Executive‑level visibility and strategic influence within a fast‑growing infrastructure company.
  • A high‑accountability, execution‑focused culture with direct impact on business growth and market expansion.
  • Opportunity to help shape the future of compute infrastructure in Latin America and emerging markets.
