They manage curriculum development, instructor supervision, regulatory compliance, and student enrollment processes. Their main goal is to ensure the program meets state and federal requirements while preparing students for successful careers as commercial drivers. Program directors often collaborate with industry partners and stay updated on transportation regulations to keep the program relevant and effective.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a CDL Program Director?

To thrive as a CDL Program Director, you need in-depth knowledge of commercial driver training, regulatory compliance, and program management, usually backed by relevant industry experience and sometimes a bachelor's degree. Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS), Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, and commercial vehicle operation tools is typical.
