What is a CDL A team driver?

CDL A Team Drivers are professional truck drivers who hold a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and work in pairs to transport freight over long distances. By driving in shifts, team drivers can cover more miles in less time compared to solo drivers, allowing for faster delivery of goods. This type of driving is common for time-sensitive shipments and often comes with higher pay due to the increased productivity. Team drivers must coordinate schedules, share responsibilities, and maintain effective communication to ensure safe and efficient operations.

What are the unique challenges and benefits of working as a CDL A team driver compared to solo driving roles?

As a CDL A Team Driver, you'll share driving responsibilities with a partner, allowing for longer continuous travel and potentially higher earnings. However, team driving requires strong communication and the ability to work closely with another person, which can be challenging if schedules or personalities differ. Many team drivers appreciate the increased miles and reduced downtime, but adapting to a shared work and rest environment is essential. It's a great option for those who enjoy collaboration and want to maximize their time on the road.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a CDL A team driver, and why are they important?

To thrive as a CDL A Team Driver, you need a valid CDL Class A license, a clean driving record, and knowledge of DOT regulations. Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs), GPS navigation, and freight management systems is typically required. Strong communication, teamwork, and time management skills are essential for effective coordination with your driving partner and meeting delivery schedules. These skills ensure safety, compliance, and efficiency in long-haul transportation, which are critical for success in this role.

Description
Attention: Professional Drivers:
Do you need to find the balance between the job you enjoy and the family you love?
At Lake Trucking we have the answer. For over 63 years Lake Trucking has grown from humble beginnings to the largest refrigerated carrier of fresh seafood out of Florida. We partner with our sister company Stokes Fish Company to transport their seafood as well as seafood from around the world to the Midwest all the way to the Rockies.
Our dedicated routes provide our team drivers with a regular 4-day route, allowing you to spend more time with your family, and or use the extra time to make more money. Our driver schedules are customized based on your financial and family needs. All our drivers are W-2 employees and are NOT 1099. Our dedicated routes take you to the same customers each week. This means you become the face of our company because you get to know our customers and they you.
We at Lake Trucking treat our drivers like no other company. It all starts from the top with our owners Ted and Margie Brozanski who are on site and are active every day to make sure their vision is realized. "We treat all of our team drivers like family which is one of our best traits" says Ted Brozanski, Owner/President. "That is why we have a turnover rate of just 7% vs the national average of 86% or higher. We provide competitive pay, good benefits, home time that no one can match in the industry and even more importantly we respect and admire what you do for our company and for America."
"When the World Stopped (during COVID), We Kept Moving" is on the side of our trailers to remind everyone that drivers are special, and they need to be respected for what they do for America.
Our fleet consists of late model automatic Freightliner Cascadia tractors with inverters, refrigerators, microwaves, and XM Radio. Due to the number of miles that we operate, we lease our equipment from Ryder. This means we have Platinum roadside coverage should we have any mechanical issues. Our drivers are driving and making money, not sitting on the side of the road or in shops waiting for repairs. It costs us more to do this, but you are worth it.
If interested, go to www.laketrucking.com and click the "Drivers CDL-A" link and complete the application. Our safety team will contact you initially to review your information. They will then turn over the application to the owner to call you. At Lake Trucking we do not have recruiters and don't want them. The owner will call you himself to find out what you are looking for, and hopefully you both will find the match made in heaven.
