Teradyne has an immediate need for a Product Safety Engineer at our office located in San Jose, CA. This role will support the day-to-day product safety activities across various Teradyne Test Divisions.

  • Manage product safety and EMC compliance activities in collaboration with San Jose, CA based development teams.
  • Integrate with design teams to drive early risk assessment and pre-compliance work.
  • Coordinate internal and external testing events, including interfacing with certification suppliers, competent bodies, and test labs.
  • Ensure compliance with all appropriate safety regulations and standards, including CE, NRTL, SEMI, and others.
  • Conduct product safety analysis from circuit-level schematics/wiring diagrams to system-level designs.
  • Provide formal safety recommendations to engineering teams based on analysis.
  • Ensure continuing compliance by maintaining Test Reports, Constructional Data Forms (CDF), and Technical Construction Files (TCF).
  • Coordinate EMC pre-compliance and validation activities.
  • Communicate and deploy best practices for safety compliance.
  • Domestic and international travel may be required, up to 10%.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required, Master's degree preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in product safety and compliance engineering
  • Experience in product development preferred
  • Strong understanding of IEC/EN 61010-1 standards
  • Familiarity with SEMI S2/S8 and IEC 60825-1 standards (nice-to-have)
  • Basic understanding of EMC principles preferred
  • Hands-on ability to perform product safety testing
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation)
  • Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams and drive compliance initiatives to closure
  • Knowledge of domestic and international electrical safety standards/regulations, including SEMI (S2), National Electrical Code (NFPA 70), and European Standards (EN61010, EN60204)
  • Compliance experience with ATE (Automated Test Equipment) or highly integrated electrical equipment preferred


Compensation: 
The base salary range for this role is $95,400-$152,600. This range is a good faith estimate, and the amount of base salary will correspond with experience and skill set. This range can also fluctuate depending on demand and location.

Incentive Plan: This job is eligible for discretionary bonus(es) based on financial performance.
