CDC Laboratory Support – Biological Scientist, Level 1

Chippewa Government Solutions, a Sault Tribe Inc. (“STI Federal”) company, is searching for a dynamic and skilled Biological Scientist to be a key part of our expanding team!

What You’ll Do…

As a Biological Scientist, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Influenza Division of the CDC by providing laboratory support as sort of a Jack-of-all trades with various tasks. Your work will contribute to the development and assessment of diagnostic methods and vaccines to improve responses to potential outbreaks.


Key Responsibilities & Expected Outcomes

  • Pick up lab supplies from DSR
  • Respond to notifications of incoming packages from Stat lab; pick them up
  • Unboxing and verification of inbound shipments
  • Pre-accessioning of specimens
  • Assisting with autoclave and other waste removal
  • Shipment support, ensuring correct viruses are packed in each box
  • Buffer and reagent support
  • Transfer of materials between buildings

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities for Success

  • Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in life science,
  • Previous laboratory experience/exposure a plus.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, or related biological science.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience, particularly in influenza research.
  • Familiarity with advanced laboratory standards and techniques.


Compensation & Work Environment

  • Salary Range: $70,000 – $75,000, dependent on experience.
  • Environment: Work will be performed in a climate-controlled laboratory environment.
