Cdc Data information

What are CDC data?

CDC data refers to the wide range of public health information collected, analyzed, and published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This data includes statistics on disease incidence, surveillance reports, health behaviors, and trends related to public health issues in the United States. Researchers, policymakers, and public health professionals use CDC data to inform decisions, track outbreaks, and improve health outcomes. The data is made available through various CDC platforms, such as CDC WONDER, Data.CDC.gov, and specific disease databases.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a CDC data analyst?

To thrive as a CDC Data Analyst, you need strong analytical skills, a background in public health or statistics, and experience with data interpretation, typically supported by a relevant degree. Proficiency in statistical software (such as SAS, R, or SPSS), data visualization tools, and data management systems is essential. Attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for translating data findings to diverse stakeholders. These skills ensure accurate public health reporting and support data-driven decision-making to improve health outcomes.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working with CDC data, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals working with CDC data often encounter challenges such as managing large and complex datasets, ensuring data privacy, and interpreting evolving public health trends. Addressing these challenges involves staying updated on data management best practices, using secure data handling protocols, and collaborating closely with epidemiologists and analysts to accurately interpret findings. Regular training on CDC data systems and effective communication within multidisciplinary teams can also help overcome these obstacles and ensure high-quality public health insights.

What is the difference between Cdc Data vs Data Analyst?

AspectCdc DataData Analyst
Required CredentialsTypically requires public health, epidemiology, or data management certificationsRequires degrees in statistics, data science, or related fields; certifications like CAP or Microsoft Power BI are common
Work EnvironmentGovernment health agencies, public health departments, research institutionsCorporate, healthcare, finance, or consulting firms
Employer & Industry UsageUsed mainly in public health and government sectors for disease tracking and health data managementUsed across various industries for data interpretation, reporting, and decision-making

While both roles involve data handling, Cdc Data focuses on public health data management within government agencies, whereas Data Analysts work across industries analyzing diverse datasets to support business decisions.

Role Summary

We are seeking a Senior Snowflake Data Platform Architect to serve as a senior subject matter expert (SME) supporting a modern enterprise analytics platform built on Snowflake. This role partners closely with existing Platform Architects and senior technical leaders, contributing deep expertise in analytics-focused data architecture, modeling, reporting enablement, ELT-based system onboarding, and enterprise data integration.

This individual is not the final architectural authority, but a highly experienced practitioner who works alongside platform architects, engineering teams, and business stakeholders to onboard new data sources, refine platform patterns, and ensure Snowflake is used effectively for enterprise analytics and reporting use cases.

Scope, Accountability & Impact (Senior Level)

This role operates as a Senior individual contributor within the enterprise data platform organization. The Senior Snowflake Data Platform Architect contributes hands-on expertise while executing within established architectural guardrails defined by Platform Architects.

  • Typically 710 years of experience in data engineering, analytics, or data architecture roles.

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience working with Snowflake in enterprise environments.

  • Supports onboarding of individual systems or domains into Snowflake.

  • Designs analytics-ready data models and semantic views aligned to existing platform standards.

  • Escalates major architectural tradeoffs and risks to Platform Architects.

Key Responsibilities

Snowflake Platform Expertise

  • Act as a Snowflake subject matter expert partnering with Platform Architects to operationalize analytics architectures.
  • Provide hands-on guidance on schema design, workload isolation, performance tuning, and cost optimization.
  • Apply Snowflake best practices across ingestion, transformation, and consumption layers.

System Onboarding & Data Pipelines

  • Partner with technical teams and business stakeholders to onboard new source systems into Snowflake.
  • Provide architectural guidance on ELT-based ingestion and transformation patterns.
  • Collaborate on pipelines using tools such as CData Sync, Qlik Replicate, Azure Data Factory (ADF), Openflow, or similar.
  • Help define standards for incremental loading, CDC, data quality, and reliability.

Analytics & Data Modeling

  • Design analytics-optimized data models including star schemas, fact/dimension tables, and reporting-ready datasets.
  • Apply modern patterns such as medallion architectures and curated semantic views.

Reporting & BI Enablement

  • Ensure Snowflake datasets are optimized for BI tools such as Power BI and Sigma.
  • Partner with reporting teams to ensure metric consistency and reduce downstream modeling complexity.

Enterprise & SaaS Data Integration

  • Support analytical integration of data from systems such as Salesforce (strong plus for Salesforce Data Cloud / Data 360), SAP, Workday, Jira, ServiceNow, and similar platforms.
  • Translate operational and SaaS-native data models into analytics-ready Snowflake structures.

Collaboration & Emerging Capabilities

  • Work closely with Platform Architects, data engineering teams, analytics teams, and business stakeholders.
  • Maintain foundational familiarity with Snowflake Cortex and partner with AI specialists when applicable.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake as an enterprise analytics platform.

  • Advanced SQL skills and strong background in relational data warehousing.

  • Proven experience designing dimensional models and semantic data layers.

  • Experience enabling BI platforms such as Power BI or Sigma.

  • Experience working with ELT-based ingestion pipelines and enterprise data tooling.

Preferred / Strong Plus Qualifications

  • Experience with Salesforce Data Cloud (Data 360) and Salesforce data models.

  • Exposure to Snowflake Cortex (non-specialist).

  • Experience operating in large, multi-team enterprise environments.

  • Snowflake certifications such as SnowPro Core, SnowPro Advanced Architect, and / or additional advanced or specialty certifications are a plus
