They collaborate with epidemiologists, healthcare providers, and policymakers to improve population health outcomes. These roles require expertise in statistics, data analysis software, and public health principles.

What are some typical projects or responsibilities for someone working in CDC Biostatistics?

Professionals in CDC Biostatistics often work on analyzing public health data related to disease trends, health outcomes, and program effectiveness. They design and implement statistical methodologies for surveillance or research studies, collaborate with epidemiologists and public health officials, and provide guidance on study design and data interpretation. Daily tasks may include preparing reports, developing visualizations, and presenting results to both scientific and non-technical audiences. This role plays a vital part in shaping public health policies and responses through rigorous data analysis.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Cdc Biostatistics position, and why are they important?

To thrive in a CDC Biostatistics role, you need a solid background in statistics, epidemiology, and public health, usually supported by a relevant graduate degree. Job description

Overview

Please note that this position is contingent upon the successful award of a contract currently under bid.

Goldbelt Professional Services specializes in providing expert resources for Public Health missions including scientific, technical, and administrative support from junior staff to high-level subject matter experts. Research and data driven, Goldbelt Professional Services’ experts create solutions customized to the client’s needs.

Summary:

The Data Analyst supports the Study to Explore Early Development (SEED) within the National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities (NCBDDD) at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This position is responsible for managing, analyzing, and interpreting complex, multi-site epidemiologic and surveillance data related to autism spectrum disorder (ASD), developmental disabilities, and child health outcomes. The Data Analyst contributes to data-driven research, surveillance, program evaluation, and public health initiatives that advance understanding of developmental disabilities and improve health outcomes for children and families.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Transfer SEED participant data from the GA SEED Information System to the National SEED Information System
  • Develop, administer, and monitor quality control of SEED data in the GA SEED Information System. Provide data analyst support for miscellaneous data report requests, create presentations, abstracts, and publications
  • Conduct validation (second review) and score matching of the Social Communication Questionnaire (SCQ) / SCERTS® Assessment Process (SAP) scores of the SEED participants weekly
  • Create and run SAS or other open-source language codes necessary to produce outputs needed for routine GA SEED reporting.
  • Prepare and create data files for GA SEED participants through coding (e.g., SAS, R, SQL, or other open-source languages) – i.e., subset data files, manipulating data from “wide” to “long” format, re-coding variables, etc.
  • Prepare data files before linkage (i.e., perform data cleaning steps as needed), develop appropriate linkage strategies (deterministic vs. probabilistic), and perform post-hoc analyses to validate linkage results and identify additional data cleaning needs
  • Create extensive variable mapping documents and data dictionaries, which are used by scientific staff and statisticians during data analysis
  • Document coding for Complex Variables for GA SEED
  • Conduct weekly tracing of GA SEED participants through use of available participant contract information to ensure information is current and accurate
  • Create and deliver tracking “Enrolled/Disposition” reports of GA SEED participants on a weekly basis
