Role Database Administrator Location Melbourne, FL Duration 12 months (Contract to Hire) Shift 1st Shift (Hybrid) Pay Range $54 -$59 per hour on W2 (All inclusive)
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator with strong expertise in Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL databases, along with experience supporting Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Windows operating systems. This role supports multiple programs in a dynamic environment and is responsible for administering the full lifecycle of database environments using command-line tools, Oracle Enterprise Manager, SQL Server Management Studio, and other database management tools.
  • This position is onsite in Melbourne, Florida;remote work is not available.
  • On-call rotation schedules are determined by the program. Candidates must be able to participate in an on-call rotation. On-call requires candidate to report onsite with a response time of one hour maximum.
  • Ability to support off-hours and weekend work as needed for projects and assignments.
  • This position may require travel to a disaster recovery site as needed.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance.

Responsibilities include:
  • Install, configure, manage databases while working with Oracle RAC, Grid infrastructure (ASM and Clusterware), Data Guard (logical and physical standby), Oracle Enterprise Manager across DEV, TEST and PROD environments along with multitenant database migration/support/administration.
  • Install, configure, manage SQL Server databases on VMWARE along with implementation, management and troubleshooting of SQL Server Always On Availability Groups (AG).
  • Install, configure, manage PostgreSQL databases in virtual environments.
  • Regularly work with database patching/upgrades, backup/recovery, high availability (HA), and disaster recovery (DR) for these database platforms.
  • Experience leading database migrations with little or no downtime for the above database platforms. For example, migrating RAC database from 19c non-CDB to Oracle 23ai/26ai CDB architecture in an RAC environment along with the Data Guard standby, migrating/upgrading from SQL Server 2019 to the latest versions.
  • Develop and improve response times of database queries by completing system performance tuning and diagnostic-related tasks for these database platforms.
  • Support systems and database security patching and upgrade requirements while adhering to security standards. Support security requirements, audits and follow-up actions for these database platforms.
  • Control the security of the database systems and how users interact with the data
  • Complete database activities including documenting database processes and creating jobs and stored procedures assisting the Software team.
  • Ability to work with Software development team on various projects as need arises and support the Database lead as needed.
  • Plan and execute implementations of new data-related applications and systems.
  • Review and implement new database designs based on developer requirements.
  • Complete health monitoring activities and proactive correction of issues.
  • Regularly collaborate with other cross-functional teams such as Sysadmins, security/compliance, software and Test/Quality.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, and minimum 10 years related experience;or a Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, and minimum 8 years related experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the field of database administration with Oracle (11g and later) and SQL Server databases (2012 and later) performing the specification, selection, evaluation, testing, deployment, and operation of database applications.
Additional Skills Considered:
  • Experience configuring and performing core database administration from installation to disaster recovery for Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL on RHEL and Windows Operating Systems (OS) across physical and virtual environments.
  • Prior FAA telecommunications and database administration experience is a plus.
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly to newer DB platforms while leveraging experience from the core strength areas.
  • Experience debugging stored procedures and SQL queries with software engineers.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience in performing Oracle to SQL Server migrations.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL versions 16, 17, 18.
  • Experience with Oracle Database 11gR2, 12c, 19c, 23ai/26ai, multi-tenant architecture.
  • Experience with SQL Server 2012 onwards.
  • Experience with migrating databases to lower cost options.
