Position Overview
The Systems Administrator will support the Office of Information Technology (OIT) by administering, maintaining, and enhancing enterprise infrastructure, cloud platforms, and server environments. This role is responsible for managing Microsoft and cloud ecosystems, supporting infrastructure modernization initiatives, troubleshooting complex technical issues, and ensuring the availability, security, and performance of critical systems. The position requires strong expertise across AWS, Windows Server, networking, Azure DevOps, and enterprise infrastructure operations.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure & Systems Administration
  • Administer and support Windows Server environments (2012 R2, 2016, 2019, and 2022).
  • Manage server configuration, maintenance, patching, upgrades, and performance optimization.
  • Coordinate infrastructure activities with internal teams, vendors, and external partners.
  • Monitor systems to ensure security, availability, reliability, and operational performance.
  • Recommend and implement infrastructure improvements and modernization initiatives.
Cloud Administration & Engineering
  • Deploy, manage, and support AWS cloud environments.
  • Support and administer Microsoft Azure services and cloud-based solutions.
  • Evaluate and implement cloud-based infrastructure improvements.
  • Optimize cloud solutions for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.

  • Administer Linux environments including Red Hat and Ubuntu.

  • Support server hosting environments and enterprise application platforms.
  • Troubleshoot operating system, infrastructure, and application issues.
Monitoring, Troubleshooting & Operations
  • Monitor infrastructure health and system performance.
  • Perform root cause analysis and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Escalate and coordinate issue resolution with vendors and support teams when necessary.
  • Develop automation and documentation to reduce manual operational effort.
Architecture & Strategic Planning
  • Support infrastructure architecture and technology planning initiatives.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5–8+ years of experience in systems administration, infrastructure engineering, or related IT roles.
  • 2–3 years of hands-on experience supporting: 
    • Windows Server 2012 R2
    • Windows Server 2016
    • Windows Server 2019
    • Windows Server 2022
  • 2–3 years of IIS Administration experience.
  • 2–3 years of AWS administration and cloud engineering experience.
  • Experience with: 
    • TCP/IP
    • DNS
    • Samba/CIFS
    • NTFS Permissions
  • Experience supporting enterprise infrastructure and server environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Experience supporting production environments and mission-critical systems.
